  • Ep 79: Sixth Sense Fun

Imagine this, you're sitting on the couch, maybe you're reading something, maybe there's some music on, and all of a sudden you smell something burning. What do you do? Think about it for just a minute. Do you stand up and start screaming at the top of your lungs that we're all going to die?

No. You stand up and you walk around to go check it out.

Same thing goes for our emotions. When you feel something, you have to acknowledge that feeling, pause, and listen to what your intuition tells you. That ping, that knowing.
But we seem to have forgotten that. We don't use that spidey sense in the way that we could.

In this episode, I talk about how you can take back your sixth sense, and learn how to accept the information it is offering you, so you can make mindful and intentional response.

So, sit back with a nice warm coffee or tea, and let's get your spidey senses running.

What you'll learn in this episode:

    • How intuition can function as a "sixth sense," providing vital information about our well-being and environment
    • Strategies for acknowledging and understanding emotions to align actions with true self
    • Insights into societal influences that may discourage trusting our intuition and how to reclaim it
    • Practical tips for using emotional awareness as a guide for better decision-making in life
    • The negative consequences of ignoring or suppressing our emotions, which can lead to more intense and potentially destructive behaviors

  • Ep 78: Essentialism

Many of us value creative brain space. It's the downtime that gives us the opportunity to think creatively, to innovate, and to reflect on what we want, what brings us joy and how we can contribute to the world at large in our own unique way.

If we don't decide how to use our time, the people around us will choose for us.  This is exactly what happened to me in the last six months, by falling down and then picking myself back up again.

If you struggle with making time for reflection, or time to focus on the things you MOST want to do with your life, you're not alone.  If you have trouble saying "no" as a way to open up space for the things that really count, this episode is for you.

What you'll learn in this episode:

    • The concept of essentialism and how it can help you prioritize your life's most important "hell yeses"
    • Protecting your time and energy for activities that are truly meaningful to you
    • How societal pressures, especially on women, create a voice inside of us encouraging constant service to others without expecting anything in return
    • Disciplined decision-making and understanding the original concept of "priority" as focusing on a singular goal
    • Insights from Greg McKeown's book "Essentialism" and Kara Loewentheil's "Take Back Your Brain" on overcoming societal expectations and personal limitations

    Mentioned in this episode:

  • Ep 77: Unexpected Love

Sitting across the table from each other eating overpriced vegan food, my now husband sat down his fork, squared his massive shoulders at me, and smiled that earth stopping grin as he said, "Hey. I really like you."

From that first date, to our current life 14 years later- filled with the efforts of navigating family building, community raising and meeting in the middle; it has been the gift that neither of us ever knew was coming.

Love and deep relationships are a core part of what creates fulfillment for us as human beings, and in today's episode we start with a feel good story, and end with some ideas for what we can do to nurture any relationship; whether it's  with a whole community that you're in, a friendship you have, or to the hope of new relationships or friendships in your future.

What you'll learn in this episode:

  • Ep 74: Thought Trades

Ever think that doing thought work sounds like...a lot of work?

Think again.  95% of our thinking is automatic, which is a necessary function of the brain-  to filter through all the stimuli we walk through in a  day. We NEED to have automatic processing,  to help us do mundane things like drive our cars and pour a glass of water. In order to function...we need to have some things on lock.

Get his- only 5% of what goes through are mind are real conscious thoughts that we're actually choosing.

When we have thoughts that are creating results in our life that are not helpful- which is probably almost all of the time...we can trade them out quickly with a thought that is more helpful- without sitting down to journal or meditate for an hour.

Today, we're talking about thought trades, and this episode today is sort of a refresh and a deep dive into a whole list of quick examples that are illustrative of the model from previous episodes.

The world can't validate our ideas because our ideas only exist for us at first. It doesn't matter what anybody else thinks. There's just you in the world with your big, beautiful ideas that we cannot wait to hear about and to see. So let's talk about how to hotwire your thinking to make that journey a little easier.

What you'll learn in this episode:

    • The transformative power of thought management in daily life
    • How to manage automatic negative thought patterns that guide actions
    • Practical examples of 'thought trades'

  • Ep 73: Tools for Feeling it All

I'm sure everybody has that experience when you're triggered or when you have a really strong emotion, you think you are that feeling. And that really happens for all of us.

When we are turning an idea into a real thing, we are going to experience all different emotions whenever that goal is something that's challenging and new. We're going to have to allow uncomfortable feelings, and feelings might pop up that are real, wild and that flood us.

In this episode, I'm going to give you three tools for how you can go deeper in allowing a feeling but not merging with it or blending with it.

Sit down with me today and let's make our ideas into real things that bloom the world.

    • The importance of having a clear mission, values, and vision for growth

  • Ep 72: The Freedom of a Hard No

Here's the thing, every time you say yes to something, it means you're saying no to everything else. That is how we turn those shimmering ideas into concrete realities, by setting boundaries.

In this episode, we will talk about the concept of a "hard no" and how this clear, compassionate form of rejection can keep us aligned with our goals.

Where's your hard no, where's your hell yes? The better you get at recognizing them, the better life becomes and the better you'll get at following through on making your ideas real.

Stay tuned and get ready to give the world some hard NO.

What you'll learn in this episode:

    • Recognizing where  your hell yes and your hard no is
