  • Ep 41: Thought Management vs. Positivity

Big conversations in our culture these days is around the topic of positivity. It also comes up all the time with my clients. When we can differentiate consciously and intentionally between an awareness of the thoughts that we're choosing versus being positive. Then we’ll be better able to distinguish those as two different things and get a lot more comfortable practicing thought awareness.

When we’re able to see our thoughts for what they are, instead of just trying to be positive, it can create relaxation and gives us more freedom to choose the way that we're thinking, feeling and acting.

    What you'll learn:

    • Why the key isn't to blindly push positivity but to slow down
    • There are neutral circumstances in our lives and then thoughts about them
    • Why it's important to distinguish between positivity and thought awareness
    • Even in difficult situations, it's possible to find a thought that's helpful rather than resorting to toxic positivity

  • Ep 40: My Bloom Story

In this episode, I’m sharing a story I didn't know if I would ever tell, but I had an experience this week that really brought an old memory to the front of my mind, which made me feel compelled to share it with you.

One of my two best friends told me she wishes everyone could hear this story, because sometimes people hit a bottom in life and feel like they're in a point that they'll never get out of, and it can be hard to see that things can be different, that things get easier, that things inevitably change.

The one constant in life is change, and it's so hopeful to hear the stories of people that worked their way out of a very bottom from their life and back to a place that they love.

So I'm going to tell my “bloom” story about what happened this week, and how it reminded me of what I've been through, because I worked for a full decade to get from my bottom, back to a place that I love. Let’s get into it …

What you'll learn in this episode:

    • Why feelings are your superpower that help you direct the course of your life
    • How pursuing your goals makes life so much easier in the day-to-day
    • As you become fluent in how your brain works, it becomes the ultimate user manual
    • How to orient yourself back to who you want to be and “bloom” in your everyday life

How can we connect in a disconnected, dopamine-obsessed world? What are the challenges that create separation, and what are the steps we can take to heal and surround ourselves with the people and communities that reflect our values to be the best version of who we are meant to be?

In this episode, I share what I learned from my seven-year-old son and his crew of buddies. These kids were genuinely supporting each other. It didn’t matter one bit if any of them made it to home base. They were laughing and cheering anyway. This is how America gets kind.

What you'll learn in this episode:

    • Setting clear boundaries to manage feelings of loneliness and disconnectedness
    • How to develop awareness around automatic thinking
    • The significance of self-reflection and empathy in fostering positive change

  • Ep 38: Retros Are Everything

Were you ever caught in the eye of a hurricane? Not a literal one, but a metaphorical storm of thoughts, ideas, and revelations, all stemming from one powerful tool – the retro. We often get caught up in our automatic thinking, building stories and beliefs about ourselves and others that may not be true.

By consciously interrupting this cycle and reflecting on our experiences, we can foster a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us. This can lead to personal evolution and growth, minus the drama. The retro is not a tool to beat ourselves up, but rather a celebration of our self-discovery and evolution.

What you'll learn in this episode:

    • How to conduct a full-fledged retro
    • The benefits of reflecting on their actions, thoughts, and decisions
    • How retro can foster a culture of trust and openness to feedback
    • The connection between reflection and personal growth
