In this episode of Blowing Smoke with Twisted Rico, we are honored to have long time Boston Based producer/engineer Richard Marr as our guest. What also makes this episode even cooler is that we recorded it in Galaxy Park (Marr's studio) which is now located in the witchy city of Salem MA! We talk about Marr's early days at Q Division, his long history of working with numerous stellar bands such as The Street Dogs, Helium, The Charms, Toxic Narcotic, and The Midnight Creeps. Lastly, Marr shares some of his memories of his own band Flexie. This is a good one!
In the seventh episode of Blowing Smoke with Twisted Rico our host goes off script and talks compilations. There is a lot of rambling but some funny stories and lots of talk about bands that have been featured on the four Twisted Rico compilations. Its also our final episode (for now) recorded in Pittsburgh at The Azorean Cafe. AND music by The Charms, Ape Hangers, Vulgarity, and Caged Heat!
This episode of Blowing Smoke with Twisted Rico has a twist and it is one of our favorites. We sit down and talk with Zach Shell, owner of Baby Loves Tacos in Pittsburgh, about his great taco shop and catering business, and he explains to listeners how and why he hired our host Steev to work with him. We also talk about former Phoenix garage rock heroes The Love Me Nots and ex members Nicole and Cristina's new band The Darts, who are playing Punk Rock Bowling in 2019!
In the fifth installment of Blowing Smoke with Twisted Rico things get a little goofy in a punk rock way! Host Steev Riccardo is joined by three fourths of Pittsburgh punk rockers The Homisides. We talk about the history and highlights of the bands career and then everyone unveils their list of favorite punk rock bands of all time from Flipper to The Ramones and all in between, Its a twistedly classic episode for sure.
On episode 4 of Blowing Smoke with Twisted Rico, host Steev Riccardo talks about his long history with the legendary Boston band The Neighborhoods, as well the New York based punk label in which he ran called Giant Records. He also brings up one of of his favorite topics, The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame and two notable omissions - Joy Division and Bad Company.
In this episode of Blowing Smoke with Twisted Rico, host Steev Riccardo reviews the Chris Doherty (Gang Green) benefit show and discusses the film Bohemian Rhapsody and then goes in depth with an album by album breakdown of some of the British bands greatest songs. And if thats not enough, our host also discusses Poison and The Great Kat and shares more of his twisted musical views and plays a track by the obscure Boston band Flexie.
On episode two of Blowing Smoke, we talk about some of the best live shows of 2018 which morphs off into a discussion of some of the greatest concerts of all time seen by our host Steev Riccardo. We also discuss some of the outstanding overlooked musical gems that slipped under the radar, in a segment called 20 Records that Blew My Mind. Be sure to subscribe and leave a review !
