Apple PodcastsAndroidRSSCoco is a vivacious and enthusiastic romantic on a determined search for the one true love of her life. At about two times the age of a regular princess (or even more), she fearlessly pursues her fairy-tale ending by embracing the paradoxes and age-defying opportunities offered by the modern age. Bolstered by the notions that fifty is the new forty and divorced is the new single, she ventures into the medium of the internet, a space where all things old are excitingly renewed to search for the one.
The fairyland of online dating proves to be populated by characters very much akin to those found in fairy tales of old. There are some trolls and other downright dastardly types and others of beastly appearance who turn out to be kindly. There are also some wily witches who try to trap and ensnare. Fortunately, the fairy godmothers (BFFs) mentored Coco through the Black Forest. So, will she find the dashing Prince Charming and live happily ever after? Read on and see!
BONUS: Under COCO’s AUDIOBOOK, on the author’s website are free downloads of 2 songs[1] related to Coco’s online journey. The author has released 2 original songs, pertinent to Online Dating, performed by the her daughters, Danièle and Dominique. Free Downloads for listeners to enjoy on the Website and SoundCloud.
[1] LYRICS by CHRISTOPHER BOYD, DANIELE JURIANSZ & DOMINIQUE JURIANSZ, Copyright, 2006. A short audio clips of the songs appear before Ch 12 and Chapter 18.

Apple PodcastsAndroidRSSI really couldn’t say.
A little birdie told me,
So, I can remember it that way.
The author has been thinking in rhymes since she first penned a poem to her high school sweetheart decades ago. It is a rhyming poetry book all about spreading kindness
A Little Birdie Told Me is a volume of poetry that shares one woman’s lyrical perspective on life, its roadblocks, its triumphs, and why the roads we take are our own choice.
In her first collection of poems, the poet reminds all of us of things we once knew but somehow lost along our way through life. While encouraging us to accept that we are all human, Burkey reflects on tragedies, struggles, victories, life lessons, nostalgia, and a variety of experiences and emotions.
Throughout her debut volume, she not only reflects on her own journey, but also gently reminds us to spread kindness wherever we go. She also reminds us to stand up to bullies, to look forward instead of back, and to recognize the blessings in the seeds we plant.
Included are several Christmas poems that celebrate the holiday and express wishes for a peaceful year ahead.

Apple PodcastsAndroidRSSThe author touches on growing pains; disillusionment; the wear and tear of marriage, parenting, and relationships; challenges and betrayal in the business world; finding herself at fifty-five; and her extraordinary and otherworldly encounters. She reveals complicated Chinese cultural traditions and recounts the Second Sino-Japanese War through her father’s recollections. From working at a Buddhist organization and from taking care of her father, she comes to understand birth, aging, sickness, and death.
The author considers herself “half a banana”-yellow on the outside but a bit white on the inside. Having lived in the States for forty-three years, she understands both Chinese and American cultures well and shows how the two cultures, especially the fundamental difference between them, have molded her life. Dotted with well-known Chinese sayings and anecdotes, Memoir of Half a Banana offers an interesting and truthful glimpse into the Chinese people and ideology.

When Amelia’s father died in 1977, her family lived in peace and unity. Her father, Johannes Macala, didn’t believe in diviners though he wasn’t a Christian. However, he occasionally visited mediums, attempting to find explanations for the sickness and misfortune that sometimes dogged the family.
Each time he returned from these consultations, the result was the same: he assaulted the medium with his knobkerrie and refused to pay him his fee because he had lied. After Johannes’ death, his children had more faith in witchdoctors and prophets than he did. Each sought out witchdoctors, while some consulted the Apostolic Church Prophets when confronted with family death or sickness.
The result divided the once united and peaceful family into fragments that could take years to reunite. The shattered family graduated from hating each other to hiring hitmen to poison each other’s children, all on the advice of the prophets and witchdoctors.
In Slaves of the One They Chose to Obey, Amelia, the youngest girl and first Christian in the family, shares her story, spreading the message about the dangers of false prophets and diviners.
Slaves of the One They Chose to Obey: A Family Torn Apart touches on the family divisions that aren’t talked about in public, yet are pevelant in almost every family. In Zimbabwe, these stories are kept secret because the colonial masters made it a crime for anyone to accuse another as a witch. But this did not stop the Africans from these practices. This book is exposing what no one will dare expose for fear of repercussions.
