This is the exact game you want to see against the Rockets. Let's face it, the Rockets are horrible and the Celtics made that very apparent in tonight's 18 point win. After missing his last 8 games, Jaylen Brown showed out tonight with one of the most impressive 60 second stints I have seen in some time. He started it off with a rebound, hard push, Euro step and impossible finish for 2 and then hits a transition 3 immediately after followed by another transition 3 immediately after that. Overall, this is the type of game you expect to see from the Celtics. JB, Tatum and Schroder carry the bulk of the scoring while everyone else chips in. While the assist numbers might not reflect it, I think the Celtics did a great job of moving the ball and a lot of that started from Smart operating on the block. We saw some great performances from our entire starting lineup as well as Schroder and Romeo tonight and even Nesmith chipped in 5pts in his limited time. The Celtics took care of business tonight but have the biggest test of the season on Wednesday against the Eastern Conference Leading Brooklyn Nets at home.

The Celtics held a pretty commanding lead throughout this one, being up 20 at multiple points throughout the night but that is not how it ended. While it may have been a pretty ugly 4th quarter, the Celtics pulled out a 6 point win on the second night of a back to back. Similar to last night, we got great performances from everyone in our starting lineup. Tatum had another very efficient night and was getting downhill to the basket a lot which is great to see. Schroder and Smart held it down again and both had great nights. Marcus, while he didn't shoot well, impacted the game on the defensive end but was also distributing at a very high level. Schroder was the #2 scoring option tonight ending with 29 points  and we also saw another solid performance from Grant Williams (14pts 8reb on 4-6 shooting from 3). After scoring 28+ in the first three quarters, the offense certainly slowed down in the 4th and we saw their defense fall apart at times but a lot of that might just be fatigue and tired legs after playing last night against the Lakers. Either way, this is a solid win where the Celtics moved the ball effortlessly assisting 28 times on 41 makes and you just have to love it.

After a brutal start to this game, being outscored 38-30 in the first quarter, the Celtics turned it around and torched the Lakers 130-108. The Lakers are not a good team at protecting the paint to begin with but this was one of the most impressive games as far as attacking the paint goes. Tatum, Smart and Schroder all got downhill a bunch forcing easy baskets or kick outs for open threes. I don't want to jinx anything but it looks like Tatum might be back in rhythm which is much needed. I know this is an unpopular opinion and roast me if you want, but Marcus Smart has been outstanding lately and that carried into tonight. On top of a super efficient shooting night tonight ending with 22pts 8reb 6ast on 9-13 shooting, he played outstanding defensively. After Tatum got torched by Westbrook on a couple straight possessions, Smart was switched on to him and shut him down. If you take out the abysmal 1st quarter, this was a really complete game of basketball and we did it without Jaylen Brown and Robert Williams. I know that nobody likes to make excuses for the Celtics but going through everything we have including a brand new coach, new defensive scheme, new roster and Jaylen Brown missing 7 straight games, to be at 8-8 is impressive.

During the last 7 games, the Celtics have led the NBA in defensive efficiency. Tonight was not on brand as the Hawks torched us in many aspects of the night. While there are a lot of negatives from tonight's game, we did see a lot of good performances. Grant Williams played an excellent game with 18pts and 6 rebounds and all season long people have been calling for Marcus to shoot less and pass more and tonight he led the team with 11 assists on the night. Tatum finally had a game shooting over 50% and a lot of that came from drives to the hoop. I think he did a much better job of getting downhill tonight which opened up the court for better shots and led to him having 5 assists as well. 

With that being said, the Celtics certainly struggled to keep Huerter and Collins in check which especially hurts because a healthy Jaylen Brown and Robert Williams definitely limits that. The Celtics definitely still have a long way to go as far as figuring out their offense but I do think a lot of that changes when/if we are ever healthy. The Celtics fall below .500 once again but hope to change that as they face off against the Lakers on Friday night.

This game started as ugly as last game ended. The Celtics started 1-8 from the field and allowed 5 points off 4 turnovers in the first 6 minutes and found themselves down by 11 in the first quarter before battling back and making it respectable. This was certainly a close one from the second quarter on but the Celtics ultimately pulled this off. We saw solid contributions from Grant Williams and Al Horford tonight throughout the game but it was the play of Josh Richardson and Dennis Schroder late in the game that ultimately put the game away. Richardson hit a big 3 right after the Cavs brought the lead down to 3 and then another nice mid range jumper to push the lead back to 8. Schroder hit two massive shots late as well as a great assist to Horford that forced the Cavs to go into foul mode where the game ended. 

It was definitely an ugly win but at 7-7 on the season, any win is a good win. What wasn't good was Tatum's shooting performance again tonight. He benefited from two wide open transition dunks after a Smart steal and a Richardson block but take those out and he shot 5-18 from the field and 2-8 from 3. Jaylen Brown can't come back soon enough because this Celtics team is really lacking an offensive punch without him and with Tatum in this funk.
