So it's Sunday, and the US Department of Commerce are banning TikTok, citing "national security" as a concern. But we all know this is just Trump being petty because a bunch of teens embarrassed him nationally and internationally.
With ample time to prepare, a lot of conservative governments in Canada have bungled the response to the coronavirus pandemic while sending students back to school. It was so avoidable, and yet here we are.
A lot of people are mourning the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and of course Mitch McConnell is being a hypocrite. But while everyone is worried about Roe v. Wade, I'm worried about something far more sinister...
So in response to the 1619 Commission, Trump announced the 1776 Commission which is a "National Commission to Promote Patriotic Education." This is state propaganda and it should terrify every American.
There is a movement afoot here in Canada calling on Canadian citizens to "buy Canadian" and support a "Made in Canada" recovery post-pandemic. And while this can be done in some ways and is a good idea on the surface, once you scratch below the surface you realize it's not as simple as a slogan.
Once again, there has been an election where a party without majority support won a majority government. This should be seen as undemocratic and unacceptable by ALL parties. It can be fixed by implementing proportional representation, which a vast majority of Canadians support.
So the news is blowing up about this story involving a whistle blower at an ICE detention facility. They allege that not only have COVID-19 cases been ignored - or worse, covered up - but that there have also been mass hysterectomies performed on the migrant women at this facility. This is a form of genocide.
So noted YouTuber ThoughtSlime was reporting noted hater Steven Crowder, since Crowder was clearly using hate speech to try and push Carlos Maza off the platform. Guess who got punished by YouTube? -_- #SlimeDidNoCrime

I misspoke, it was the Vancouver Courier, NOT the Vancouver Chronicle. In any case, the loss of local independent news is a big problem that should concern a lot of people. Without a properly independent local news source, all of news media suffers and we are left with corporate dreck that is catered to our interests rather than accurate information, sources, and unbiased reporting.
