Another unarmed black man shot multiple times by police. Riots ensue. Anyone else heard this story before? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different result. We need to rethink policing.

Through a night of many delays and botherations, there was one thing that bothered me above all else; the phrase "take Canada back." Take it back from who, exactly? This is dangerous rhetoric.

Similar refrains of "support the troops" and "back the blue" have emerged. The blurring of lines between the police and the military is problematic and dangerous.

Iowa was recently hit by a devastating natural disaster. It's so severe that it has ruined an estimated 50% of the states crops. This is a problem as Iowa is the top producer of corn, soy, pigs, and eggs in America. And we're in the middle of a pandemic with high unemployment. The last thing Americans need are higher food prices.

The Democratic Party has begun its national convention, and of course I'm bothered by it...

I know it's been a hell of a year, but a lot of important climate news has fallen through the cracks when it really should be ringing alarm bells. We need to address it as aggressively as we've been fighting the coronavirus. After all, it's not just for our sake, but for the sake of our children and grandchildren.

So even though roughly 40 million Americans are at risk of becoming homeless during a pandemic, and Congress is on 'holiday' without approving new unemployment benefits, American leaders somehow found a way to give extra money to the military. How about some help for the little guy instead?
