Box Not Included

WARNING: This episode is an in-dept discussion on the current wave of accusations being made at Hollywood stars. We do not discuss the acts which have been committed in any detail, we instead talk about how we as consumers of media react and move forward, but the tone of this episode may be uncomfortable for some listeners. We also name a number of these celebrities so please - listener discretion is advised.

If 2016 was the year of celebrity deaths, 2017 has been the year of celebrities' careers dying (and in far too many cases, not). In this episode, Jade and Hamish discuss how we as fans of media are supposed to handle these revelations. Are we "death of the author", "line in the sand" or "total boycott"-ers? Well... things might be too complicated for that!

And give our thoughts on Jodie Whittaker's outfit as The Thirteenth Doctor. And so much more - this is a bumper episode of geeking out!

We also mention our ideas for a new podcast we may be starting in the new year...

A few episodes ago, Jade geeked out with their sibling and now its Hamish's turn to keep things in the family as he hosts a very special episode with his husband Justin!

They reminisce about how they met on a Doctor Who forum, talk about their experiences (both successful and unsuccessful) of sharing the media they love with each other and then talk about how they've discovered new passions together!

Apologies! Once again, Jade and Hamish's busy schedules have meant that they've not been able to record a new episode together.

This week, Hamish takes a few minutes of your time to shout-out some Box Not Included fans in particular and discuss the recent London MCM Comic Con.

Happy Halloween! And in today's spine-chilling episode, your ghostly hosts Jade Rose and Hamish Steele take a step into the horror genre... and try to uncover the truth about what happened to all the queer people?

We take a look at the gay origins of horror cinema, the times in which a homoerotic subtext has been added and the nasty trope of the "crazy crossdresser". We then look into the future and wonder - can horror be progressive?

A great musical makes you want to watch it again straight away. But in this encore of our musical episode, we move things from the theatrical to the cinematic!

We discuss Disney, Rocky Horror, Moulin Rogue, Les Mis... but as will all our topics, we begin to ask where the queers are at?

Some are born geeks, some become geeky and some have geekiness thrust upon them. Or maybe it's kind of just offered up as an option to take or not take. That's what Jade is talking about this episode with special guest, their sister Amber, the two of them discussing what it was like growing up geeky and what that means to the two of them. From Terry Pratchett to Tank Girl with a whole lot of stuff in between and the joy of shared passions across the sibling and generational divides.
