#8 - My DNA and Just How Many Potatoes Can We Eat? This episodes starts with a look at my DNA, how we finally harvested hay almost normally, gardening the Terwilliger way, and is a half dump truck of potatoes and carrots really that much? The episode finishes with another authored poem, Was that Me?
This episode is dedicated to Mrs Hotchkiss, the librarian at Chateaugay Central School, a mentor, and a kind soul.

Short Takes are a short addition to the regular podcast on exploring the world. I’ve travelled to 49 of the 50 US states and 18% of the world and thought I would integrate a shorter episode each week to add to the podcast. Short Takes will generally be posted on the weekends with the regular episodes on the current schedule. For listener convenience; Short Takes will start with #ST so you prefer, can skip to regularly numbered episodes for story continuity.
This first one is about learning Korean and getting around.

Episode 7: Goats Need Hay! First, A listener caution: this episode contains content that some may find troubling.
This episode continues the adjustment to life on the new farm and the continued growth of the animals. Farming on a budget and without experience meant “entertaining” the locals! We meet new people and one resulted in the first tragedy that cut to my core.
This episode is dedicated to Mr Howe, a man at the Franklin County Extension Office that was a friend to the family and helped learn and grow through 4-H.

This special episode jumps ahead and shares where I was on September 11, 2001 as we remember the anniversary of that day when America was attacked. Let us always remember those who lost their lives and those who lept into action.

Chickens and Rabbits and Goats, OH MY! This episode continues the story about how our backyard was transformed into a hobby farm, the addition of rabbits and dairy goats to our flock of chickens, and a few more of our experiences as a family. With these additions, the family could rely less on stores for grocery items and at the same time, the growth would result in a move to a real farm.
The episode is dedicated to my siblings, who shared in these experiences, grew and learned together, and shared in the love that bonded the family.

Then, how did 50 baby chicks find their way to our home, the start of what was to come. Each experience shaped me just as your experiences shaped your own story. You’ll also hear one of my poems written during the pandemic.
This episode is dedicated to Ken Bryson, artist, veteran, and most of all, someone I call friend.
