In 1939, a teenage Stan Lee began his career in comics and 75 years later, he is celebrated as the creative tour de force behind Marvel's Silver Age - the co-creator of hundreds of beloved characters and stories. He was born in Manhattan, grew up to join the military, he then joined and became the prominent head of one of the biggest names in the entertainment world. Somewhere along the line he also started several charities and found himself an amazing woman that he spent the rest of his life with in a very happy marriage. And this is just the beginning to this man's fantastic life. For several decades a very prominent personality known as "The Voodoo Queen' held New Orleans spellbound. Marie Laveau staged ceremonies in which participants became possessed by Voodoo spirits; she dispensed charms and potions, told fortunes, and even healed the sick. Marie Laveau had an extremely complex reputation in later life. Although a local newspaper once referred to her as "the notorious hag who reigns over the ignorant and superstitious as the Queen of the Voodoos", she was also feared for her power with numerous stories about the things that "happened" to anyone who offended her. If you thought that scene in Sucker Punch where the doctor gave lobotomies with an ice pick was artistic exaggeration – well, you'd be wrong mi amigo. That's exactly how Walter Freeman, a specialist of lobotomies in the 1940s, performed thousands of operations. The lobotomy was considered to be such a popular "cure" for mental illness that Freeman would perform up to 25 lobotomies a day, using only an ice pick-shaped instrument and hammer, without anaesthesia, while reporters would watch. Freeman's crazy antics didn't scare off potential patients either. While some were being forced against their will to take the procedure many were begging for the chance. In February of 2013 guests of the cecil hotel in downtown los angeles complained that their rooms tap water had a strange smell, had low pressure, and at times would come out of the facet black. While some guests thought this was just another charm of being in downtown los angeles, enough people complained that maintenance employee Santiago Lopez went up to the roof to check on the hotels water supply. He climbed the ladder to the main water tank and when he reached the top and looked inside he found the source of the problem. Inside was the body of elisa lam floating face up approximately 12 inch from the top of the tank. Although she was already reported missing, police did not search the water tanks on the roof. And while Elisa herself had been found her discovery only raised more questions, how did she get to the roof? Why did she go to the roof? Was she the victim of foul play? And what was with that bizarre footage with her on the elevator? One of the nation's most notorious serial killers, Jeffrey Dahmer was born and raised in Bath Township, Ohio, a middle-class suburb of Akron. Dahmer had a job and a decent family. He seemed as normal as normal could be. That was Dahmer's home was searched after a young man fled his apartment and flagged down a police car. An investigation revealed that the apartment contained the remains of 11 victims. The bodies had been dismembered, and Dahmer confessed that he not only had cooked and eaten some of the remains, but that he also tried to change several of his victims into mindless zombie sex slaves. Asked why he committed such heinous acts, Dahmer told police that he killed because he was "lonely" and did not want his victims to leave him. Is that really why he killed, mutilated and ate many of his victims? What brings a man to a mental place, where he no longer sees others as people and perceives them more as things, to do with however he sees fit?
