We discuss the impact of self-diagnosis of mental illness on the individual and those around them.  We also consider the impact it may have on the larger subject of how mental illness is viewed in society.

Review how being connected to other humans matters for us.  Also, consider the role technology can play in how removed or connected we can be.  This week it is more observed behavior than quoting studies.

There are a great number of misconceptions about psychology and we are talking about some of them.  I have chosen a few items that come up repeatedly when discussing psychology with friends and family that do not have a psychology background.  

There is a disturbing trend of increasing elder abuse.  We discuss the shortcomings in research and society to serve this underserved population.  We also discuss some of the reasons that it can be so challenging to detect and resolve.

September is Suicide Awareness month!
We discuss the various causes and preventions of Adolescent Suicide.  What does the research show?  What changes in our social structure in the USA contribute to almost 18% of children surveyed saying they have considered suicide in the last 12 months?  

This time we cover the various ethical theories and six-step method for application.  We also cover a complex ethical situation and what the considerations might be.
