Brave Moves: Confidence, Mindset & Business Growth for Women Entrepreneurs episodes

  • Inspiration vs Structure: Why Creativity Needs a Container

Many people believe structure stifles creativity, but what if the opposite is true?

In this episode of Brave Moves, Julie explores the tension between inspiration and structure, and why relying on inspiration alone often leads to inconsistency, overwhelm, and unfinished ideas.

You’ll learn how structure actually fuels creativity by reducing ambiguity, creating consistency, and giving your ideas a reliable place to go. From daily routines to simple systems, Julie breaks down how structure creates the conditions for inspiration to arise naturally, instead of waiting for motivation to strike.

If you stay until the end, you’ll hear why inspiration is often the result of structured action, not the starting point, and how building small systems can help you turn ideas into reality without burning out.

This episode is for you if:

    • You feel creative but inconsistent
    • You struggle to follow through on ideas
    • You believe structure limits freedom
    • You want confidence built through action, not waiting

    What You’ll Learn

    • Why structure doesn’t kill creativity, it enables it
    • How routines create the conditions for inspiration
    • The hidden cost of relying on motivation alone
    • How structure reduces overwhelm and ambiguity
    • Why great ideas need discipline and process to become real

  • The 2-Minute Rule: Why Starting Is the Hardest Part

Starting is often harder than finishing.

In this episode of Brave Moves, Julie breaks down the 2-Minute Rule, a simple but powerful concept popularized by Cal Newport, and explains why this tiny action can unlock momentum, confidence, and self-trust.

    The rule is simple:
If something takes less than two minutes, do it now.
And if a task feels overwhelming, commit to just two minutes of starting.

But this episode goes deeper than productivity.

Julie explores why procrastination isn’t about laziness, it’s about emotional friction, and how two minutes can lower resistance enough to rebuild confidence through action.

If you stay until the end, you’ll hear why the 2-Minute Rule isn’t really about getting more done, it’s about keeping promises to yourself, and why that matters more than motivation ever will.

This episode is for you if:

    • You feel stuck in overthinking or procrastination
    • You’re waiting to feel “ready” before taking action
    • You want to build confidence without burning yourself out
    • You need a practical, gentle way to regain momentum

What You’ll Learn in This Episode

    • What the 2-Minute Rule is and how it works
    • Why starting creates more resistance than the task itself
    • How emotional friction keeps you stuck
    • Why confidence comes after action, not before
    • How tiny actions rebuild self-trust over time
    • A simple Brave Move you can take today

    Your Tiny Brave Move

Choose one thing you’ve been avoiding.
Set a timer for two minutes.
    Start.

When the timer ends, you can stop.
Momentum is optional, starting is the win.

  • What You Stop Doing Matters Just as Much as What You Start Doing

We love setting new goals, building new habits, and starting fresh.
But what if the real breakthrough doesn’t come from adding more?

In this Brave Moves episode, Julie challenges the idea that progress only comes from doing more and invites you to consider a powerful reframe: what you stop doing may matter just as much as what you start doing in 2026.

You’ll be guided through a simple but revealing filter:
If I stopped doing this for 90 days, would my life get better?

    Not easier.
     Better.

Julie also explores a deeper, more uncomfortable question that sits at the heart of confidence and mastery:
What deep discomfort am I willing to endure regularly to get great at something?

If you stay until the end, you’ll hear why choosing the right kind of discomfort is often the missing link between burnout and sustainable confidence.

This episode is for you if:

    • You feel busy but not fulfilled
    • You’re ambitious but tired
    • You’re ready to stop proving and start aligning
    • You want confidence that holds, even when things get hard

What You’ll Learn in This Episode

    • Why subtraction can be more powerful than addition
    • How to use the 90-Day Stop Test to evaluate habits, commitments, and patterns
    • The hidden cost of continuing things that quietly drain your energy
    • The difference between discomfort that depletes you and discomfort that develops you
    • How choosing discomfort intentionally builds real confidence
    • A simple Brave Move you can take today without overhauling your life

    Your Tiny Brave Move

Choose one thing to pause for the next 30–90 days.
Then choose one discomfort you’re willing to practice instead, the kind that helps you grow, not shrink.

    Progress doesn’t require permanence.
     It requires honesty.

  • Why Self-Awareness Feels Uncomfortable (and Why That’s Normal)

In this episode of Brave Moves, I talk about what often comes after self-awareness and why clarity doesn’t always feel empowering at first.

When we slow down enough to really see ourselves, our patterns, habits, and blind spots, it can bring up resistance, defensiveness, and emotional reactions we weren’t expecting. In this episode, I normalize those responses and explain why discomfort after self-reflection is not a sign that something is wrong, but a sign that something meaningful is happening.

I explore how awareness challenges identity, why our nervous system often reacts when familiar stories about ourselves are questioned, and why rushing to fix or change things too quickly can actually work against sustainable growth.

This conversation is about learning how to stay present with what you notice, without judging yourself, shutting down, or turning awareness into self-criticism. It’s an invitation to slow the process down and allow insight to become integration.

    In this episode, I cover:

    • Why self-awareness can trigger discomfort, resistance, or defensiveness
    • How emotional reactions after reflection are a normal part of growth
    • The role identity and self-protection play in resistance
    • Why slowing down after awareness matters more than taking action
    • How to respond to insight with compassion instead of criticism
    • A grounding Brave Move to help you stay present with discomfort

This episode is especially helpful if you’re focused on self-awareness, mindset, emotional growth, confidence building, or creating sustainable change without burning yourself out.

If these conversations resonate with you, my book Confident You: Raw Conversations dives even deeper into confidence, identity, and growth through honest, real-life stories. Discomfort doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong.
It often means you’re standing at the edge of growth.

And choosing to stay present with yourself through that discomfort is a brave move.

  • What the Johari Window Reveals About Your Patterns

In this episode of Brave Moves, I explore what happens after self-awareness hits and why noticing your patterns is one of the most important steps in sustainable personal growth.

Building on yesterday’s conversation about the Johari Window, I talk about how awareness doesn’t just bring clarity, it often stirs discomfort, curiosity, and questions. I break down how our patterns form, why they repeat, and how blind spots, hidden behaviors, and self-protection quietly shape how we show up in our lives, relationships, and goals.

This episode is not about fixing yourself or changing everything at once. It’s about understanding your patterns with compassion, curiosity, and honesty so real growth can actually stick.

If you’ve ever found yourself saying, “Why does this keep happening?” or “Why do I always react this way?” this conversation will help you understand where to look and what to do next.

    In this episode, I cover:

    • What the Johari Window reveals about recurring patterns
    • Why patterns are information, not personal failure
    • How blind spots influence behavior and decision-making
    • The role self-protection plays in hidden patterns
    • Why awareness should come before action
    • How curiosity creates sustainable change
    • A simple Brave Move to help you work with patterns without overwhelm

This episode is especially helpful if you’re focused on self-awareness, personal growth, mindset, confidence building, or setting goals that align with who you’re becoming, not who you used to be.

If these conversations resonate with you, my book Confident You: Raw Conversations goes even deeper into confidence, identity, and growth through real, honest stories. You can find it wherever books are sold, or visit GoConfidentlyCoaching.com for additional resources and support.

    Growth doesn’t begin with fixing.

  • Self-Awareness and Growth: What You Can’t See Yet

In this episode of Brave Moves, I explore the role self-awareness plays in personal growth and why so many goals fail, not because we lack motivation, but because we don’t fully understand ourselves yet.

I break down the Johari Window, a powerful self-awareness framework that explains what we know about ourselves, what others see in us, what we keep hidden, and what hasn’t been discovered yet. This episode goes beyond surface-level mindset work and dives into how blind spots, hidden fears, and untapped potential quietly shape our behavior, decisions, and long-term growth.

This conversation is especially for anyone focused on personal development, sustainable growth, confidence building, or setting goals that actually stick. I share real-life examples and reflections to help you understand why awareness must come before action, and how curiosity, not self-judgment, creates lasting change.

    In this episode, I cover:

    • What self-awareness really means and why it matters for growth
    • The four parts of the Johari Window explained in simple, human terms
    • How blind spots can stall progress without you realizing it
    • Why hiding parts of yourself limits sustainable growth
    • How untapped potential is revealed through experience, not pressure
    • A practical Brave Move to help you apply this framework right away

This episode isn’t about fixing yourself or becoming someone new.
It’s about understanding who you already are so you can grow with clarity, confidence, and intention.

If you’re working on mindset, personal growth, confidence, or setting meaningful goals this year, this episode will help you see where real change begins.

  • Brave Moves: You Are the Main Character of Your Life

In this episode of Brave Moves, I’m using Star Wars as a metaphor for growth, purpose, and what it really means to move through change as the main character of your own life.

I talk about how every main character goes through seasons, seasons of discovery, discomfort, and shedding old versions of themselves in order to step into something new. Purpose doesn’t always arrive wrapped in clarity. Often, it shows up through uncertainty and a quiet knowing that something needs to change.

I reflect on the different kinds of support we encounter along the way. Support that may feel unconventional but steady. Support that sees our potential before we do. And yes, the moments when people we thought would stay don’t, and how those moments can shake us but don’t have to stop us.

I also talk about the seasons where things slow down. The chapters where progress feels quieter and forward motion isn’t obvious. I share why slowing down isn’t failure, it’s often part of becoming, and why I encourage you not to give up during these moments.

This episode is an invitation to honor the season you’re in, trust the support showing up in your life, and remember that you don’t need to rush your story to be worthy of it.

I’m reminding you, and myself, that we’re not behind.
     We’re becoming.

And choosing to stay in the story is always a brave move.

  • Peace, Intention, and Pure Joy

In this gentle and grounding episode of Brave Moves, Julie explores the difference between hustle-driven living and intentional living, and why peace isn’t something you earn after doing more, but something you can choose right now.

This conversation is a reminder that peace is a state of inner harmony, not the absence of responsibility or challenge. Julie reflects on how intention shapes what we do, what we say, what we think, and what we believe, and how living with purpose allows gratitude and joy to naturally follow.

Through simple, everyday moments like savoring a quiet morning or that first sip of coffee, this episode invites you to slow down, go steady instead of all-in, and reconnect with the kind of peace that doesn’t depend on external circumstances.

If you’ve been feeling rushed, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself, this episode is your permission slip to pause and realign.

    In this episode, we explore:

    • What peace really is, and what it isn’t
    • Why intention matters more than hustle
    • The power of going steady instead of going all in
    • How small, present moments create lasting inner calm
    • Living in your purpose through gratitude and alignment

    Reflection Prompt:

Where in your life can you slow down just enough to notice what’s already good?

Peace isn’t the reward at the end of the journey.

    It’s available in this moment.

  • Seven Ingredients of Success: What Actually Creates Achievement That Lasts Part 2

In this episode of Brave Moves, I break down what real, sustainable success actually requires — and why motivation and hustle alone are never enough.

Building on the previous episode about designing a life that works, I walk through the Seven Ingredients of Success, grounded in the psychology of achievement and human behavior. These aren’t hacks or shortcuts. They’re the core elements that allow success to last without burnout, resentment, or constant self-pressure.

I share why achievement fails when even one of these ingredients is missing and how clarity, emotional regulation, consistency, and meaning work together to create progress that feels aligned, not exhausting.

    In this episode, I explore:

    • Why personal responsibility (not blame) is the foundation of growth
    • How clear, specific goals calm the nervous system and reduce overwhelm
    • Why consistency matters more than intensity or motivation
    • The role emotional regulation plays in long-term success
    • How to use feedback as data, not self-criticism
    • Why persistence often looks boring — and why it works
    • How meaning and purpose make success sustainable

This episode is about shifting from chasing success to building it intentionally, one ingredient at a time.

    Your Brave Move:

I invite you to look at your current goal or season of life and ask:
Which ingredient am I missing right now?

You don’t need to fix everything.
Just strengthen one area with one small, honest action this week.

    That’s how progress compounds.

  • Designing a Life Plan for 2026: Part 1 of 2

"Most people spend more time planning a two-week vacation than they do planning their entire lives." — Michael Hyatt

Are you drifting through your days, reacting to the loudest fire instead of moving toward your greatest dreams? In this first installment of our two-part series, we’re breaking the cycle of "the drift." Using the Life Planning framework popularized by Michael Hyatt, we explore how to stop being a spectator in your own life and start becoming the architect of your future.

    In This Episode, You’ll Learn:

    • The Power of Proactivity: Why "drifting" leads to burnout and how a Life Plan serves as your personal GPS.
    • The 3 Essential Questions:
      1. How do I want to be remembered? (The Legacy Question)
      2. What matters most to me? (The Priority Question)
      3. How do I get from here to there? (The Action Question)
    • Mapping Your Life Accounts: How to identify and "balance" the different domains of your life, from health and spirit to career and finances.
    • Writing Your Envisioned Future: Why describing your success in the present tense is the key to psychological "pull power."
