Brian interviews Ramona Singh. Brian interviews Dr. Kevin Hewitt. He talks about the use of lasers for health and the importance for STEM education for everyone. Dr. Hewitt is being recognized for his work to foster interest in science among students of African descent in Nova Scotia, and his leadership with Dal’s Imhotep's Legacy Academy, an innovative university-community partnership that bridges the achievement gap for students of African heritage in grades six to 12. As a researcher, Dr. Hewitt supervises the Hewitt Bionanophotonics Lab that’s overseeing the development of three projects, including an optical diagnostic tool for disease detection that is a novel technology that will allow transplant surgeons to obtain accurate measurements of liver fat content during donor surgeries.

Brian interviews Professor Dr. Daniel Beland about the federal election and what we haven’t been talking about during the campaign that he feels is critical for our futures. Dr. Beland is the Director of the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada and a Professor of Political Science at McGill who is known for his research about fiscal and social policy, in Canada and elsewhere in the world. Today we will talk about how the COVID-19 crisis may have a longer-term impact on the role of government and fiscal policy in Canada.

Brian interviews Meredith Ralston about her provocative, just published book, “Slut-Shaming, Whorephobia and the Unfinished Sexual Revolution”. Meredith is a professor of women’s studies and political studies at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax and a documentary filmmaker whose films include Hope in Heaven, Selling Sex, and Why Women Run. Her research work has been in the areas of sex tourism in the Philippines, women and politics, homeless women and sex work in Canada. Her recent op-ed in the Globe and Mail was called The Desexualization of OnlyFans is not only sex workers’ problem. We tackle some fascinating questions such as: What kind of research did you do? What do you mean by Slut-Shaming? What’s Whorephobia? Why is society is punishing bad girls? What are the myths of rape culture? What is the pleasure gap? Why the stigma of sex workers harms all?
