Brian Kelly is currently in his 30th season as a collegiate head coach and his 11th as the head coach at Notre Dame.
Kelly began his coaching career as a linebackers coach and defensive coordinator at Assumption College (1983-1986) after he graduated from there as a four-year letter winner. After spending the 1987 season at Grand Valley State as a graduate assistant, Coach Kelly became the defensive coordinator in 1989 and head coach in 1991, where he eventually led the Lakers to back-to-back National Championships.
In 2004, he became Central Michigan's head coach. Following that, Kelly took over at Cincinnati in 2006, where he led a sensational program turnaround. At the conclusion of the 2009 season, Coach Kelly was named the head football coach at Notre Dame. He has led the Fighting Irish to nine bowl appearances, including a national championship game, and five of the program’s bowl victories have come under his guidance.
