Right after Thanksgiving, the Christmas Tree lots fill up fast hoping to be empty in just 4 weeks. Christmas Trees are a seasonal staple for us. But did you ever stop to think that there might be more to that tree than a quick glance provides? There are Bible lessons we can learn that may help us appreciate this principal decoration.

Islam is the youngest and fastest growing of all the major world religions. But God can save a person out of Islam as easily as He can save someone in a Baptist church. I believe that God wants everyone to be saved, and He has made that possible through – and only through – Jesus Christ. Can a Muslim be saved? Yes, and so can you.

When God promises to send a Savior, the Messiah, He is not the exclusive Deliverer for the nation of Israel. Yes, God sent Him TO Israel, but it is also important to know that God sent Him THROUGH Israel. Jesus Christ is the Savior of the World. And just because someone doesn’t acknowledge Him as such right now doesn’t mean that God can’t draw that same person to Himself later. We may think that Muslims will never be saved, but can they be?

A discipline at the core of our Christian faith is prayer. Yet according to a recent Barna poll, only 4 out of 5 prayed at least once in the past week. And only 41% believe that God answers their prayers often. No wonder Jesus encourages His disciples both then and now to pray and expect that the Good Good Father will answer.

Some people have the absurd belief that God doesn’t answer prayers. Maybe you think it’s harsh to say that someone’s belief is absurd, but Jesus illustrates the belief that God doesn’t answer prayer as absurd by being absurd Himself. No doubt that He is a Good, Good Father Who gives Good Good Gifts to His children.

God’s invitation is strong and filled with intense passion on His part. He wants us to be saved. And so we hear Him say, “Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord, though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” A gracious invitation from a gracious God.

With Thanksgiving barely in the rearview mirror, we turn our attention to Christmas. Decorations are up, the number of shopping days is down, and the Christmas spirit is all-around. We do want to make sure that we are focused on The Reason for the Season, and so we turn our attention to prophecies of the coming Messiah. Today we look at Isaiah 1:18 and The Motivation for Salvation.
