    Reviews: Eva Noblezada
Eva is thrilled to be making her Broadway debut! She is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina. Eva was spotted by New York casting director, Tara Rubin, during a performance at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (also known as the Jimmy Awards) at the Minskoff Theatre in 2013. Rubin was so moved by Eva’s talent that she set up an audition with Cameron Mackintosh, who was preparing his 2014 London revival of Miss Saigon. Several callbacks later with Mackintosh and the creative team, Eva was chosen to star as Kim, making her professional and West End debut in the show. She garnered unanimous critical acclaim for her performance and received the Whatsonstage Award for Best Actress in A Musical. Eva recently finished playing the role of Eponine in Boublil and Schönberg’s Les Misérables at London’s Queen’s Theatre. Eva is grateful and super excited to be fulfilling a dream of opening a Broadway show! She would like to thank her loving and supportive family in the States and her wonderful lifelong friends that she has made in the UK. Twitter: @EvaNoblezada

  • Spotlight: Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk, The Mad Ones
The Spotlight podcast is hosted by Jena Tesse Fox.
Guest: Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk
Kait Kerrigan (words) and Brian Lowdermilk (music) made their off-Broadway debut in 2006 with their adaptation of Henry and Mudge, still touring nationally. In 2011, they released their first album, Our First Mistake, which charted at #1 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart. Their second album, Kerrigan-Lowdermilk Live, documents a concert tour that resulted from their breakout $35K kickstarter campaign and released in spring 2013. Their sheet music is available digitally at NewMusicalTheatre.com and MusicNotes, and a print songbook, published by Hal Leonard, is available on Amazon. Their other musicals include The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown, Tales from the Bad Years, The Woman Upstairs, Wrong Number, The Freshman Experiment, Republic, Unbound, and Flash of Time. Their songs have been recorded and performed internationally and their musicals have been produced and developed at the Aurora Theatre, the Kimmel Center, Goodspeed’s Norma Terris Theatre, Theatreworks Silicon Valley, La Jolla Playhouse, Perry-Mansfield New Works Festival, ASCAP/Disney Workshop, Manhattan Theatre Club, York Theatre, the Lark, CAP21, and Primary Stages. Together, they received the 2006 Larson Award and 2004-2005 Dramatists Guild Fellowship, and they have held residencies at the Orchard Project, Running Deer Lab, the Johnny Mercer Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals, and the MacDowell Arts Colony.
Kerrigan received the 2009 Kleban Award for libretto-writing. As a playwright, she has written Disaster Relief (developed by Page 73), Imaginary Love (Midtown Direct Rep workshop), and Transit (Chautaqua Theater Company workshop, Lark Playwrights Week 2010) and she was a 2013 member of Interstate 73. She teaches libretto writing at Primary Stages.
Lowdermilk composed music for The Amazing Adventures of Dr. Wonderful and Her Dog (with playwright Lauren Gunderson at the Kennedy Center 2011) and Red (with librettist Marcus Stevens), which received the Alan Menken Award and 2005 Richard Rodgers Award. He was the writer-in-residence at Temple Shalom, during which he scored a full Shabbat service.
Both are alumni of the BMI Musical Theatre Writing Workshop, co-founders of the digital sheet music company NewMusicalTheatre.com, and proud members of the Dramatists Guild and ASCAP.

    Guest: Sarah Gancher
Sarah Gancher is a playwright who loves epic stories, big ideas, and deep comedy. Her most frequent subject is how history is reflected in individual lives—how places, communities, and debates evolve over time. Her plays have been produced or developed at London’s National Theatre, Edinburgh’s Traverse Theatre, Budapest’s Quarter6Quarter7 Festival, The Public, New York Theater Workshop, The Atlantic, Steppenwolf, New York Stage and Film, Ars Nova, Women’s Project, The Flea, LaMama, P73, PS122, NYC SummerStage, Seattle Rep, Hartford Stage, RoundHouse, Mosaic (DC), the Great Plains Theater Conference, and Telluride Theatre, among others. She has been a Time Warner Fellow at the Women’s Project Playwrights Lab, a member of P73’s writer’s group Interstate 73, a Writing Fellow with The Playwrights’ Realm, and a member of the Ars Nova Play Group.
Sarah is the winner of the New York Stage and Film Founder’s Award, the AR Gurney Prize, the Clifford Odets Ensemble Play Commission, and residencies from the Hermitage, Jewish Plays Project, Tofte Lakes, and SPACE at Ryder Farm. She has been a playwright-in-residence at Budapest’s Quarter6Quarter7 Festival, which presented Hungarian language staged readings of three plays from her 7th cycle (Seder, Klauzál Square, and Five Mothers.)
She frequently collaborates with devising ensembles such as Colorado’s Telluride Theatre, Hand2Mouth from Portland, Oregon, NYC’s The TEAM, and Blue Man Group. She was the collaborating playwright on Mission Drift, a musical about capitalism and the myth of the frontier written with director Rachel Chavkin, composer Heather Christian, and The TEAM (Coimbra, Lisbon, Salzburg, Edinburgh Fringe, PS 122 COIL Festival, Perth, Hong Kong, and London’s National Theatre; winner of Edinburgh International Festival Fringe Award, Scotsman Fringe First, Herald Angel, Guardian Best of 2011, nom, Drama League for Distinguished Production of a Musical.) She also has an ongoing collaboration with rock band The Bengsons, writing two musicals with them: The Lucky Ones, a commission for Ars Nova, and Hundred Days, which had its New York premiere at the 2017 Under the Radar festival at the Public.
She has worked behind the scenes at The Colbert Report, The Metropolitan Opera Guild, The Big Apple Circus, and Norway’s Stellapolaris, among others. As a jazz violinist, Sarah has played in groups from New Orleans to Budapest. A proud Oakland native, she currently lives in Queens. MFA: NYU.
