Be as frugal as possible, make more money, and save it all to fast track retirement. This is popularly known as the FIRE Method. And while my end goal is to achieve financial independence, I'm also strongly driven by location independence. I want to be a digital nomad and travel the world. In many ways it's counter to the ultra frugal FIRE method. But I believe my financial independence is coming regardless, so I might as well enjoy the journey if the end goal is inevitable.

Why do people shun wanting money? When you apply to a job you have to say that you have a passion for the company or that you align with their values... You know those same five values every company puts. Yet the honest truth is that while we might genuinely align with a company's values typically are main driving force is to make a lot of money to better our lives. I just started going to a Coding Bootcamp and when they asked me why I was there I told simply "I'm here to make money."

With the rise of social media it's become easier than ever to find mentors. However many of us get stuck in consuming content instead of applying what they learn. Even worse many of these so called "online-coaches" are fakes not even living what they preach.

The more I learn about investing, whether about business, real estate, stocks, etc, all the Gary Vees and Grant Cardones of these fields preach about Return On Investment aka ROI. And I have found that you apply this same principle to all areas of life, even none traditional business ones such as relationships.

It's January 1st, 2020 and it's crazy to reflect on how much my life has changed over the last ten years. I never want to go back to being that person I was at 22. But I'm so thankful I remember how it felt to not believe in myself and how feeling sorry for myself didn't make an ounce of difference. I think a lot of my ambition and success over the years stems for the struggles leading up to 2010.

Opening car doors for girls is so outdated. It's uncomfortable and annoying for both parties having to wait to get in and out of the car to keep this idea of "chivalry" alive. I think the concept of chivalry needs to be redefined to mean Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

Officially put my downpayment for registration to Austin Coding Academy! I've been talking with the counselors all week and after doing a campus tour I was sold. The next 9 months are going to be brutal working full time, staying fit, being a good partner, going to school & doing an additional 15-20hrs of coding work outside the class room. But what else am I going to do, be lazy?!

Tim Ferris Four Hour Workweek has an assignment in the book to take a week long social media fast. The first time I read it I couldn't believe what life would be like without my apps. And that was depressing. I jumped on the fast and after a week I realized how truly addicting apps were. Now I make sure to due a social fast at least once a year.

This has always been the least sexy thing about me in my opinion is not having a valuable skill set. I left college scared of becoming an adult and working a "career" for the next 40yrs so I bounced around from job to job and never moved up higher than the customer service level. And that's not a sexy thing to be stagnant. In this episode I talk about the journey and how I decided 2020 is the year I become a software developer.

Getting back with your ex. Going into deeper debt. Working 40+ hours a week at jobs you hate and steadily gaining weight year after year. This list goes on, and it's crazy to see how we all self sabotage in one way or most cases multiple ways. Become actively aware of every decision you're making and stop back stepping in life.
