Thursday's Coach and Company opens on the news out of Chapel Hill: Steve Belichick has resigned from North Carolina [1] after an investigation the school described as showing "a disregard for Carolina's values and standards of conduct" while being "isolated in scope and not a systemic failure" — and with general manager Michael Lombardi already gone, the question on the table is how much longer Bill Belichick wants the job. Mikey P frames it as a will question rather than a can question: does Belichick believe North Carolina can become a legitimate program, and how much does losing his GM cost him if what he wants is total control. Young Peyton's read is sharper — the expectation was an old coach who just wanted to win football games, and instead the past several months have been about everything except football. (Coach's and the panel's theory that the whole North Carolina move existed to create a head-coaching runway for Steve is opinion, not reporting; UNC's statement did not address it.)
The betting block is the spine of the show. Mikey P goes Bengals +2.5 — a number he liked before Nico Collins turned up with a hamstring [3] — and Baker Mayfield two or more passing touchdowns at home against Cleveland. Young Peyton takes the Jaguars getting points in Denver, arguing that a Broncos defense that gave up 31 doesn't scare him and that Trevor Lawrence, with the ball on every snap, does more damage than one running back did. Coach buys the half-point on the Chiefs and doubles back to Cincinnati. That leads into Denver's opening stretch [4] — Kansas City, Jacksonville, the Rams, at San Francisco, at the Chargers, Seattle — and Mikey P raises the Drew Brees contact story [6]; note for the desk that the NFL has declined to comment and no league investigation has been confirmed, so that one stays in "reported, unresolved" language. Raphael Esparza's Inside Info follows: a first-quarter under 10.5 on the Thursday nighter built on primetime scoring trends, Oregon over 67.5 at home against a Portland State team that has allowed exactly 100 points in two games [7], and the Broncos on the moneyline — which Coach immediately identifies as a three-and-a-half-point middle with Peyton's Jaguars ticket.
Picks and Plays turns to the game itself, and the crew is in violent agreement about the direction. Mikey P is on Josh Allen's combined passing and rushing at 290, reasoning that Allen doesn't need a monster night — one breakaway run gets there — and calls this a legacy spot: the Bills are opening their new Highmark Stadium in the regular season [8], and 25 years from now somebody will ask what Allen did in that building. Young Peyton takes the Bills up to 6.5 and expects touchdowns rather than field goals from two good red-zone teams. Coach is on the Bills team total but raises the one thing nobody can price — physical recovery on four days, with Jahmyr Gibbs coming off 34 touches [9]. Asked to build Detroit's path, Mikey P lands on Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sam LaPorta, since Jamison Williams had drops in Week 1 — then gets held to account for abandoning DJ Moore the moment he left Chicago. The show closes on LSU–Ole Miss: Sam Leavitt listed doubtful [10], Raphael reporting from inside the market that the number ran to LSU −1.5 and came back to −2.5 because the books simply didn't buy it, and the crew agreeing it's Kiffin being Kiffin. Then a genuine line in the sand — Lane Kiffin's daughter is still a student at Ole Miss, people have been ugly to her, and all four voices tell the audience to knock it off. Mikey P's suggestion is that the NIL lawsuit out of Oxford [11] is the story that deserved the oxygen instead.

What makes a believable WWE champion: the look, the story, or the connection? Jonathan “The Coach” Coachman and Vince Russo react to the Sami Zayn interview excerpts played on the show and debate whether WWE is doing enough to win back casual viewers. Zayn’s Bloodline history and championship résumé provide the backdrop as the hosts argue about first impressions, audience research and the difference between serving existing fans and attracting new ones. His September 15 Busted Open appearance is the starting point—not the end—of the argument.
The conversation then crosses into pop culture with Sydney Sweeney’s Novig “Just Sports” campaign. Coach and Russo defend the advertising approach while discussing criticism from female athletes, the ESPN Body Issue comparison and the parody clip played during the episode. Back in the ring, Roman Reigns’ win over Penta on Raw in Mexico City earns praise for its atmosphere and athleticism—and sparks a debate over whether too many kickouts make finishing moves meaningless.
There is also the Reigns–LA Knight title-match setup for Money in the Bank, the hosts’ criticism of putting important story developments outside the main broadcast, and their call for better introductions to NXT talent. Add Russo’s fantasy-lineup frustration with ChatGPT, a BlueChew sponsor message, fan questions, Toni Storm praise, Bayley promo criticism and the Brolet wheel, and it is another wrestling-and-pop-culture Wednesday. The Sami Zayn–Roman Reigns unification discussion is the hosts’ speculation, not a confirmed match announcement.

Lane Kiffin is heading back to Oxford, and Coach and Company is ready for the noise. The Coach, Mikey P and Big Tommy C tackle the drama around LSU vs. Ole Miss and Kiffin’s return, from his college football “heel” persona to the home crowd’s expectations. Then the conversation moves between the lines: can Trinidad Chambliss give Ole Miss the last laugh against his former coach?
It’s “Back to School” for a five-game Week 3 preview. Beyond LSU–Ole Miss, the crew debates whether Notre Dame can overwhelm Michigan State, why Mikey likes SMU against Louisville, and what Kevin Jennings can do to strengthen his Heisman case. The Friday slate brings Houston at Texas Tech, a debate about Texas Tech’s NIL investment, and Miami at Wake Forest. Playoff perception and winning convincingly run through the discussion, with a quick Clemson–North Carolina aside along the way.
Wednesday rants bring plenty more heat. Mikey questions Todd Monken’s decision to stick with Deshaun Watson, while Tommy unloads on Zuffa Boxing following Ryan Garcia’s stoppage of Conor Benn. Coach celebrates the energy fans bring to big events, and he and Tommy revisit Shawn Michaels vs. Ric Flair at WrestleMania XXIV, Undertaker vs. Michaels at WrestleMania XXV, and some very memorable ringside stories. Welcome to the inaugural episode of Afternoon Drive with the Coach. Simply The Coach introduces BTT Studios’ new Tuesday/Thursday NFL-season format: a brisk, game-by-game run through the league’s full official 2026 NFL Week 2 schedule, with listener interaction and his own analysis at the center of the show. Every matchup below is linked to that official NFL schedule.
The Coach works through all 16 games in the exact order discussed, mixing reactions to Week 1 with his personal leans on sides, totals, and teaser strategy. His picks, predictions, power rankings, and betting opinions are his own analysis and are not settled outcomes or betting advice. Midway through, he delivers the show’s BlueChew Gold sponsor message; later, he closes the football slate with his first top three: Chicago, Buffalo, and Kansas City.
[00:00] Opening — Simply The Coach welcomes listeners to the first Afternoon Drive with the Coach, outlines the Tuesday/Thursday format, previews the 16-game Week 2 rundown, and promises a top-three ranking at the end.
•[02:43] Lions at Bills — On Thursday night, the host expects a high-scoring game and personally favors Buffalo to cover while targeting the over.
•[04:58] Packers at Jets — The Coach contrasts Green Bay’s late Week 1 collapse with the Jets’ opening win and leans toward New York getting the points, with a possible buy to four.
•[07:10] Vikings at Bears — Chicago’s aggressive scoring mindset earns the host’s attention; he likes the Bears’ side and says he will keep looking to their team-total over until the offense proves otherwise.
•[09:15] Steelers at Patriots — The Coach weighs Pittsburgh’s defense against New England’s chance to regroup, calls the mid-range spread awkward, and says he would take the Steelers with points if forced to play it.
•[11:48] Panthers at Falcons — With quarterback uncertainty and conflicting Week 1 signals in focus, the host labels this matchup a personal stay-away on both side and total.
•[13:40] Browns at Buccaneers — He questions Cleveland’s quarterback approach and, despite generally avoiding large NFL spreads, says Tampa Bay may be a spot where he would consider laying the points.
•[15:45] Bengals at Texans — The Coach is skeptical of Houston after Week 1 and personally backs Cincinnati with the points, saying he could buy the number to three.
•[18:02] Saints at Ravens — Baltimore’s scoring potential and New Orleans’ comeback ability lead the host to prefer the total over the side; he expects the game to clear the posted number.
•[20:45] BlueChew Gold sponsor segment — The Coach reads the BlueChew Gold message and shares promo code COACH. For product details, eligibility, and important safety information, listeners should consult BlueChew’s official information directly.
•[22:27] Eagles at Titans — The host sees Philadelphia’s seven-point line as a prove-it spot and advises laying the points in his personal analysis.
•[24:30] Raiders at Chargers — After the Chargers’ Week 1 loss, The Coach rejects the touchdown pricing and says he would gladly take Las Vegas with an added half-point.
•[26:11] Jaguars at Broncos — Calling this an early litmus test, he favors Jacksonville in Denver based on his read of the teams’ Week 1 performances.
•[28:29] Commanders at Cowboys — The Coach flags Dallas’s defensive concerns and says he is unsure where to play the side, while steering clear of the total but remaining eager to watch the NFC East matchup.
•[30:44] Seahawks at Cardinals — Arizona’s opening performance changes the host’s view of the matchup; he sees a potential Cardinals teaser angle if the number moves to four-and-a-half.
•[33:14] Dolphins at 49ers — The Coach points to Miami’s difficult early travel and San Francisco’s convincing opener, then says he would lay the number with the 49ers before it reaches 14.
•[35:18] Colts at Chiefs — In the Sunday night slot, he praises Kansas City’s Week 1 turnaround and personally recommends laying the opening Chiefs number before it rises.
•[38:49] Giants at Rams — The host likes New York getting seven points after its encouraging opener and avoids the total in the Monday night finale.
•[40:33] Coach’s top-three power rankings — The Coach’s first rankings are No. 3 Chicago Bears, No. 2 Buffalo Bills, and No. 1 Kansas City Chiefs. He stresses that the list is his fluid weekly opinion.
•[41:50] Close — The Coach thanks Producer Man and the live audience, previews Thursday’s return—including a deeper Lions–Bills look—and signs off after episode one.

Mexico City brought out a version of WWE that felt urgent, focused, and unmistakably big-time. The Coach and JD open by asking whether the September 14 edition of Raw—WWE’s first Raw in Mexico City in 15 years—set a new standard for the Triple H era. They break down the extraordinary crowd, the spotlight placed on lucha libre, Chad Gable’s excellent Intercontinental Title defense against Dragon Lee, and El Grande Americano’s rise from surprise character to AAA Mega Champion.
The conversation expands beyond one show. Stephanie Vaquer’s Women’s World Championship victory over Liv Morgan at a live event in Santiago becomes a case study in making house shows matter again—and in WWE’s strategy of placing exclusive footage inside Club WWE. Then comes the week’s biggest shock: Sami Zayn taking the WWE Title from CM Punk, with the hosts debating whether the move elevates Sami or simply clears WWE’s political path toward Crown Jewel.
AEW receives both criticism and praise. The hosts question why Will Ospreay needed a week to explain his request for a match with Jon Moxley, then applaud the humanity AEW showed through Rebel Heart Dynamite and its tribute to Andy “The Butcher” Williams. The show closes with a debate over two-night TripleMania, Damian Priest’s heel turn on R-Truth, and a “Kick Out” celebration of how Roman Reigns and Penta made a television main event feel like a prize fight.
•[00:00] Welcome to The 2 Count; BTT Studios programming update
•[03:16] Was Mexico City the best Raw of 2026?
•[07:14] El Grande Americano wins the AAA Mega Championship
•[11:25] Chad Gable vs. Dragon Lee for the Intercontinental Title
•[15:34] Stephanie Vaquer’s Women’s World Championship win in Chile

Simply The Coach opens with BTT Sports programming announcements before Soupy and Mikey P join him to revisit Week 1. The crew celebrates the Giants’ win over the Cowboys, notes Chicago’s explosive result against Carolina, and debates the Chiefs’ 31–10 Monday night win over the Broncos. Their Chiefs conversation centers on Kenneth Walker’s debut, Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, and Kansas City’s defense; the official Chiefs-Broncos Week 1 highlights provide the game context behind the discussion. The Legends Lounge gets its moment, too, as the panel recognizes Producer Man’s first-touchdown call.
Guest analyst Raphael Esparza brings his Tuesday Inside Info segment with early opinions on No. 2 Georgia at Arkansas, Panthers-Falcons, and Saints-Ravens. Raphael’s numbers and side preferences are his own betting viewpoints—not guarantees—and the panel then shifts to the official NFL Week 2 slate: Lions-Bills on Thursday, followed by Panthers-Falcons, Vikings-Bears, Steelers-Patriots, and Giants-Rams. Soupy and Mikey P make their respective cases on totals, spreads, matchups, and team outlooks before the group wraps with plugs and one final Week 1 penalty/celebration debate.
•[00:14] Opening and show announcements — Simply The Coach welcomes listeners, previews the Monday Night Football reaction and Week 2 early lines, promotes BTT programming, merch, and the new afternoon drive show.
•[03:25] Giants-Cowboys and Bears-Panthers Week 1 reactions — Soupy celebrates New York’s 28–20 win over Dallas and Isaiah Likely’s Giants debut; Mikey P checks in as the Bears fan after Chicago’s 59–37 win over Carolina.
•[04:59] Kenneth Walker and Chiefs-Broncos — The panel revisits Raphael’s prop call on Walker, then discusses Mahomes, Kelce, the Kansas City defense, and whether the Chiefs looked like the league’s best team after one game. These are panel opinions, not season conclusions.
•[09:31] Legends Lounge — The crew celebrates Producer Man’s Patrick Mahomes first-touchdown selection and examines the Week 1 picks board.
•[11:58] Raphael Esparza: Inside Info — Raphael joins after his Monday Night Football prop success; he explains why he had a different game-side view while still backing Walker-related props.
•[13:42] Georgia-Arkansas — Raphael points to Georgia’s early scoring and Arkansas’ loss at Utah, offering his personal early view on the opening spread for the Bulldogs’ SEC opener.
•[14:46] Panthers-Falcons — Raphael cites Carolina’s history as a road betting favorite and states his preference for Atlanta at the early number; the hosts flag the matchup as a later show topic.
•[15:41] Saints-Ravens — Raphael discusses New Orleans’ Week 1 showing, Baltimore’s injury questions, and his early Saints spread perspective.
•[17:41] Lions-Bills — The first of five Week 2 early-line conversations. Soupy and Mikey P expect offensive fireworks and favor the total going over, while the Coach considers the potential effect of the short week.
•[20:11] Panthers-Falcons — Soupy and Mikey P make the case for Carolina’s offensive upside after Week 1; Mikey says he is fading Atlanta until its quarterback situation is settled. These are their individual outlooks.
•[22:35] Sponsor — BlueChew Gold sponsor read; visit BlueChew for product details and important safety information.
•[24:02] Vikings-Bears — Mikey P likes Chicago’s ground game and home-opener energy, while Soupy sees a path for Minnesota to stay within the number and likes the scoring environment.
•[27:39] Steelers-Patriots — The panel debates Pittsburgh’s early form, DK Metcalf’s penalties, New England’s Week 1 loss, and how each side could respond on Sunday.
•[30:51] Giants-Rams — Soupy calls the early line disrespectful to New York after its Cowboys win; Mikey P expects a competitive matchup and credits the Giants’ coaching. Both are panel opinions on the Week 2 game.
•[37:03] Panel plugs and final football debate — Supi promotes his fantasy and Survivor content, Mikey P previews Fight Time with Mikey P, and the crew talks player celebrations and costly penalties.
•[38:47] Close — Simply The Coach promotes the day’s BTT content, congratulates Producer Man on the Legends Lounge call, and signs off.

Vince Russo opens Monday's show by apologizing to ChatGPT. He asked it for an early-game and a late-game parlay, both lost, he cut what he describes as a stiff and ugly promo on the chatbot, and by Sunday he was a grown man typing out an apology and asking for forgiveness with seventeen weeks of football still to play. From there it becomes a genuine grievance about NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube blacking out games he thought he paid for — until Coach points out that the games were on local channels Russo no longer subscribes to.
Then the show turns, and it does not turn back for forty minutes. Sami Zayn beat CM Punk on SmackDown to become a two-time Undisputed WWE Champion, and Russo's objection is not about Sami Zayn the man — he says repeatedly that Zayn is a great worker, a great storyteller, and beloved in the locker room. His objection is about perception, and about the casual fan who lands cold on a Tuesday, sees a 40-something Sami Zayn holding one world title and possibly Penta holding the other, and never comes back. He walks through the alternative he would book: keep the belts on Roman Reigns and Oba Femi, make both men untouchable for six months, and let the money match build itself into WrestleMania. He picks apart the referee work in the finish, argues the locker-room politics that made this possible would never have existed in the Attitude Era ("you think anybody says to Steve Austin, you're dropping the belt tonight to D'Lo Brown?"), and traces the whole philosophy back to the Daniel Bryan title run. Coach pushes back the only way that produces anything useful — he asks Russo to argue the other side, and to name a single positive.
The last third is a referendum on WWE's identity. Coach poses a hypothetical: Triple H walks into this week's creative meeting and asks the room one question — who are we? The answer both men land on is that the company got over its skis on the back of the Netflix and ESPN money and lost touch with wrestling at its core. Then Rey Mysterio, stretchered out of AAA TripleManía 34 in Las Vegas by Omos, turned up with Ryan Garcia the very next night in a neck brace, which Coach uses to make the point about protecting an angle in public. It closes with super chats, a Netflix commercial-counter complaint, and a bet on the Chiefs–Broncos Monday nighter with the Wednesday hosting chair on the line.

Monday means all NFL all the time, and Coach opens with three from the weekend: Texas is the new No. 1 in the AP Top 25 after Arch Manning wiped out a 20-point fourth-quarter hole in Austin — the Longhorns' earliest in-season No. 1 since 1965 (AP); Myles Garrett will have knee surgery and land on IR for at least four games after the Rams' 27-7 loss to the 49ers in Melbourne (NFL.com, Rams); and Ben Shelton's breakout U.S. Open ended in his first Grand Slam final, a four-set loss to Alexander Zverev (ESPN). Brandon Combs joins and takes a victory lap on Tailgate Saturday, where the crew had Oklahoma State live as a massive underdog against Oregon — the Cowboys won 39-31 and dropped the Ducks out of the top five (NCAA.com). Note: the "24-point dog" line Coach and Brandon used on air is their number; none of the sourced recaps state the closing spread.
Into the Sunday night game, and both guys are off the Dallas bandwagon: the Giants beat the Cowboys 28-20 behind Jaxson Dart going 23-of-29 for three touchdowns (NBC Sports). Brandon, who had Dallas in his Super Bowl prediction, says he was wrong after one week and calls New York "a playoff caliber football team"; Coach zeroes in on Malik Nabers and Isaiah Likely as the difference makers. Then the winners and losers. Winner 1 — the Bears, who put up 59 in a 59-37 win over Carolina, the highest-scoring Week 1 game in NFL history (News Tribune); Brandon's take is blunt — "the Bears are who we thought they were," an elite offense that will have to outscore a bad defense, with Caleb Williams a top-five quarterback by season's end. Loser 1 — the Chargers, who scored 14 at home in a 26-14 loss to Arizona (Chargers), with Brandon putting some of it on an offensive line that let two rushers come free. Winner 2 — the Ravens, 41-23 over the Colts with Derrick Henry going 144 and three scores (Ravens); Brandon calls Baltimore a 13-14 win team headed to the Super Bowl, and the two argue Lamar Jackson's contract and playoff record — Brandon's position is that eight playoff games at 1,800 yards and ten touchdowns is not the indictment people make it out to be. Loser 2 — the Browns, blown out 34-10 by Jacksonville with Deshaun Watson throwing a pick on the fifth play from scrimmage (Fox Sports); Coach says on air that Watson is no longer an NFL quarterback and that he tweeted for Shedeur Sanders to warm up. The quarterback decision in Cleveland remains unresolved — both hosts are speculating.
Winner 3 — Tyler Shough, 410 passing yards in a 31-30 overtime loss to Detroit that ended when Kellen Moore went for two instead of the tie (Chicago Sun-Times); Brandon loved the call, Coach argues a tie could matter in a division that may again come down to 8-9. Loser 3 — the Packers, who led and then gave up the game to Minnesota after Kyler Murray left with a concussion and Carson Wentz came in cold (MPR News); Brandon is merciless on Matt LaFleur taking points off the board and on Jordan Love's two fumbles and an interception. After the BlueChew Gold read, Gridiron Time sets up tonight's Broncos at Chiefs, 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN (NFL.com) — Brandon is playing Denver, arguing Kansas City never fixed the offensive line in front of Patrick Mahomes despite the February cap restructure (NFL.com). The show closes on Travis Kelce, in year 14 on a one-year deal with the retirement call deferred (CBS Sports); both hosts expect a solid-not-elite season and think this is the last one.
Housekeeping: Three more live shows today — the Coach and Bro Show with Vince Russo at 2 p.m. ET on Monday Night Raw in Mexico City (Roman Reigns, Penta, World Heavyweight Championship); the Monday Night Grind at 7 p.m. ET with Coach, Big Tommy C, Raphael Esparza and Mikey P, breaking down Monday Night Football, best bets and who gets into the Legends Lounge first; and a live Betcha watch-along at 8:15 p.m. ET. The Friday Storytime era begins with a story bigger than professional wrestling. The Coach and Vince Russo reflect on AEW’s Rebel Heart Dynamite, which honored Tanea “Rebel” Brooks and supported I AM ALS and Team Gleason. Britt Baker’s emotional reunion with Rebel leads both hosts into an unusually personal conversation about the cost of putting work before family, the moments they wish they could reclaim, and the importance of remembering that wrestling is entertainment—not life and death.
That perspective becomes even more powerful as the hosts revisit September 11, 2001. Russo remembers being stranded in Oklahoma and driving through the night to reach his family in Colorado, while The Coach recalls the fear created by a lost cell phone and a mailbox full of messages from relatives who knew he traveled through New York every week. He also remembers standing with the WWE roster as Lilian Garcia sang the national anthem on the September 13, 2001 SmackDown.
The second half delivers the lighter side of Storytime: Russo’s ChatGPT-assisted football picks, an Australian 49ers television blooper, The Rock’s bond with Harvey Wippleman, the abandoned Vince McMahon limo mystery, Triple H’s unforgettable Madison Square Garden return, John Cena’s 17th world title, Ric Flair’s lifelong commitment to being “The Nature Boy,” and The Coach’s memories of the late Barry Melrose. Coach opens the Friday edition of Coach and Company by marking the anniversary of September 11 and remembering everyone whose lives were changed that day. He then shares the latest BTT Studios programming updates, previews the new Friday edition of Coach and Bro, and sets the table for a fast-moving football show with Mikey P and Soupy.
The crew begins with the San Francisco 49ers’ 27–7 win over the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, covering Kyle Shanahan’s offensive game plan, Brock Purdy’s three-touchdown performance, the impact of Fred Warner and Nick Bosa, Myles Garrett’s quiet Rams debut, and the teams’ very different approaches to international travel. They also review Netflix’s presentation of the NFL’s first regular-season game in Australia, played before more than 100,000 fans at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Then it is time for the weekend card. Soupy backs Oregon against Oklahoma State and expects points when Ohio State visits Texas; Coach takes Oklahoma against Michigan; and Mikey P rides with Boston College against Rutgers and Missouri against Kansas. The panel also highlights Memphis running back Jaylin Carter, Western Michigan–Monmouth, and Oklahoma–Michigan before turning to NFL Week 1, where Jaguars–Browns, Titans–Jets, Bills–Texans, and Broncos–Chiefs lead the conversation.
