Today’s Coach and Company is dedicated to Barry Melrose, the beloved former NHL coach and Emmy-winning ESPN analyst who died at age 70 following a battle with Parkinson’s disease. Coach remembers Melrose as a close friend, a passionate hockey lifer, and an unforgettable personality whose warmth extended far beyond television.
The football conversation begins with the Seattle Seahawks’ 13–10 win over the New England Patriots. Coach, Mikey P, and Peyton debate Drake Maye’s three interceptions, New England’s late-game decision-making, and Seattle’s outlook after Sam Darnold exited with a hip injury and Drew Lock took over.
Then the crew turns to the NFL’s first regular-season game in Australia: the San Francisco 49ers against the Los Angeles Rams at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The panel shares its best bets, Raphael Esparza supplies three actionable betting angles, and the four-man weave examines travel and sleep strategy, the Rams’ rebuilt defense, Brock Purdy’s passing volume, and the impact of George Kittle and Nick Bosa carrying no final game designation.

TKO President and COO Mark Shapiro’s remarks at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference put talent value at the center of the conversation. The Coach and Vince Russo unpack what it means for TKO to say it has “resized” WWE superstar pay composition, whether advertising and marketing opportunities can create a better upside for performers, and why corporate language can sound very different to shareholders than it does to the people in the ring. They also react to reports of WWE and The Walt Disney Company discussing family-focused special events for 2027.
Then the focus turns to Raw’s looming battle with Monday Night Football. With Raw streaming live on Netflix, Vince argues that WWE must compete to win rather than assume viewers will catch up later. The hosts debate whether WWE clearly established the audience’s rooting interest after The 946 set The Usos’ car ablaze, and why the first chapter of a new faction’s story matters so much.
Finally, The Coach and Bro ask WWE to turn the reality of its women’s roster into compelling television. From Jade Cargill and Charlotte Flair to Kelani Jordan, Bayley, and Chelsea Green, they pitch stories that let established stars evolve while a younger generation fights for space. The conversation continues through Super Chats, the birth of the Mr. McMahon character after Montreal, and unforgettable stories involving Mr. T, Shaquille O’Neal, and Manute Bol.

Coach and JD run their signature ten-topics-in-25-minutes format, opening with Bronson Reed's leaner, meaner return and Oba Femi's new spot sharing the main-event table with Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. From there the show covers Royce Keys and OTM setting the Bloodline's car on fire on Raw and Paul Heyman's expanding role, before crossing over to AEW for the surprise announcement that Will Ospreay will defend the AEW World Championship against Jon Moxley at All Out and the three-way TLC tag match pitting Copeland & Christian against FTR and the Young Bucks.
The back half turns to business: WWE's LFG developmental layoffs, skepticism about the relocated Money in the Bank concept, Cody Rhodes' overdue heel turn, and a women's division the hosts say is being carried by NXT call-ups. The Kickout closes with super chats on Joe Tessitore's commentary style, Paul Heyman's mystery phone call, and a reveal that Oba Femi's on-air voice is a put-on accent.

[1] NFL 2026 Week 1 Schedule

Raw had flashes of the kind of television that pulls viewers forward. Big Tommy C and Gabby LaSpisa unpack the Liv Morgan–Stephanie Vaquer Women’s World Championship match, where a familiar interference finish reinforced their concern that WWE telegraphed too much of the night. They also examine Becky Lynch’s involvement, the Judgment Day numbers game, and whether the result points to a tag match or a three-way collision in the women’s division.
The show’s clearest success, in their view, was Royce Keys and The 946’s attack on The Usos. Keys, Bronco Nima, and Lucien Price—OTM as the tag team within The 946—gave the Bloodline story texture through the Oakland vignettes, Jacob Fatu’s warning, and the burning SUV angle. The hosts debate whether Jacob is the Bloodline’s essential strategist, a future rival to Roman Reigns, or a possible swerve waiting to happen.
Elsewhere, they assess The Vision’s growing presence, Sol Ruca’s Money in the Bank qualifier win, Bayley’s return, and the gap between WWE’s deep roster and its uneven weekly presentation. The conversation turns to Joe Hendry and JD McDonagh’s comedy-heavy segment, the better-than-expected Sunday Night’s Main Event work from Baron Corbin, Lil Yachty, and Trick Williams, repetitive announce-table spots, comedian Matt Mathews, Lola Vice, and why Roman Reigns vs. Penta in Mexico City could be the kind of meaningful match Raw needs.
•[00:00] Overall Raw verdict — Why the hosts found the episode uneven and underpowered.
•[00:39] Liv Morgan vs. Stephanie Vaquer — Morgan retains after Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez interfere; Becky Lynch intervenes, Perez supplies the belt, and Morgan uses it before Oblivion.
•[04:55] Royce Keys, The 946, OTM, and the Bloodline — Oakland backstory, Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso, Jacob Fatu’s warning, and The 946 burning The Usos’ SUV.
•[09:44] The Vision at full strength — Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and the group’s expanding influence.
•[09:48] Sol Ruca’s Money in the Bank qualifier win — Sol Ruca defeats Lyra Valkyria and Maxxine Dupri after Bayley stops Valkyria’s apparent win.
•[15:09] Joe Hendry vs. JD McDonagh — Je’Von Evans counters Dominik Mysterio’s involvement, but can comedy protect everyone involved?
•[19:00] Show-wide creative inconsistency — The depth is there; the cohesion and follow-through are not always there.
•[22:00] Sunday Night’s Main Event comparison — Baron Corbin, Lil Yachty, and Trick Williams deliver a segment that worked better than expected.
•[25:00] Overused announce-table spots — When every table is destroyed, the moment stops feeling special.
•[27:00] Matt Mathews and The Miz — A celebrity segment that at least felt connected to a genuine wrestling fan.
•[28:45] Lola Vice vignette — Why WWE’s early investment in her presentation is encouraging.
•[29:38] Roman Reigns vs. Penta — Previewing the September 14 Raw match in Mexico City; Santiago, Chile on September 12 is a separate live event, not the Raw location.
•[30:52] The 25th anniversary of September 11 — A respectful reflection on wrestling as an escape and community.
•[33:43] End of episode.

It is a special Labor Day edition of The Coach and Bro. Coach and Vince open with moving stories, the increasingly frustrating maze of streaming and sports access, and a fan-made AI detour before Vince shares two classic thrift finds: a Joe Namath throwback jersey and a mint-condition copy of The Wrestling Album. The conversation is funny, personal, and rooted in why wrestling history still matters.
Then the Big Three begins with WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event. Coach sees a new, leaner Bronson Reed’s attack on Oba Femi and Bron Breakker as a major physical statement, while Vince asks whether changing Reed’s look affects the identity of the Tsunami. They also examine Randy Orton’s win over Cody Rhodes, Cody’s crucial hesitation, and the logic that makes—or breaks—an angle for the casual fan.
From there, the hosts make the case for protecting big moments: use the announce table less, build a card with purpose, and give every talent a meaningful direction. They discuss Baron Corbin, Lil Yachty, Trick Williams, Jade Cargill, Michin, B-Fab, Tatum Paxley, creative continuity, and the community before closing with sincere remembrances of Bill Dundee and Andy Williams, known in wrestling as The Butcher.
•[00:00] Opening, Labor Day stories, moving chaos, and streaming/football frustrations
•[12:30] AI fan art, thrift-store finds, and the history inside The Wrestling Album
•[26:00] Sunday Night’s Main Event review begins
•[26:12] Oba Femi vs. Bron Breakker: Bronson Reed returns, attacks with a chair, and lands multiple Tsunamis
•[32:17] Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton: hesitation, killer instinct, referee chaos, and the logical next chapter
•[37:37] Why overused announce-table spots stop feeling special
•[41:02] Baron Corbin vs. Lil Yachty, the five-minute survival story, and Trick Williams regaining the U.S. Title
•[42:41] Card sequencing, talent presentation, and why a show should build toward its biggest moments
•[46:38] Jade Cargill, Michin & B-Fab vs. Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss & Tatum Paxley: WWE’s women’s division and character-development debate
•[53:30] Creative continuity, production staffing, and making stories feel real
•[59:30] Super Chats and community discussion
•[66:01] Bill Dundee tribute
•[67:32] Andy Williams/The Butcher tribute

Coach checks in from his new home base in Texas for a Labor Day edition of Coach and Company and brings in Brandon Combs and Mikey P to recap Week 1 of college football. First up is LSU's 51-10 dismantling of Clemson in Lane Kiffin's debut — and Kiffin's halftime shot at Dabo Swinney, "imagine if we had pro players", after Swinney's offseason comments about the state of college football. Brandon argues Swinney is now squarely on the hot seat and that LSU is every bit as good as advertised; Mikey P, a former LSU fan, says he's out on Kiffin's heel act and has jumped to Ole Miss — which needed a walk-off 48-yard field goal to survive Louisville 41-38 Sunday night.
Then the main event: Michigan 13, Western Michigan 12, won on a Hail Mary after the stadium clock read 0:00 and a review restored one second. The Big Ten's explanation — that the Broncos defender who batted the first Hail Mary out of bounds started his jump from out of bounds with one second left — does not satisfy Brandon, who calls it a bailout for a 27.5-point favorite and takes aim at Michigan fans for storming the field after beating a MAC team. Mikey P brands the play the "Bail Mary," calls for an ACC-style live review explanation across every conference, and Coach orders "BAIL MARY" merch on the shop by 2 p.m. Quick hitters follow: Notre Dame's 41-13 second-half takeover of Wisconsin (with Coach's betting lean on Irish team totals), and James Franklin's "Enter Sandman" debut at Virginia Tech.
Gridiron Time opens NFL week with the Falcons naming Tua Tagovailoa the Week 1 starter over Michael Penix Jr. — Brandon, a day after drafting Kyle Pitts, is beside himself; Mikey P notes Penix wasn't cleared for full 11-on-11 work until late August and predicts Tua has the shortest leash in the league. The crew debates the NFC South after last year's three-way tie at 8-9, and Brandon makes the case that Baker Mayfield, playing 2026 without an extension, performs best with his back against the wall and could be in the MVP conversation. Mikey P counters that Tampa is waiting to see whether Mayfield can elevate a young receiving corps without Mike Evans. Coach closes with a "dare we?" — a special Monday Night Grind for Wednesday's Patriots–Seahawks opener — and everyone takes No. 19 SMU at Florida State tonight.
Housekeeping: BTT is live six days a week (Sunday mornings TBD) through the Super Bowl. Today: two VOD segments dropping, a special live Coach and Bro Show at 2 p.m. ET, and the BAIL MARY merch item on the shop. Wednesday 7 p.m. ET: special Monday Night Grind for NFL opening night (Patriots at Seahawks). Raphael Esparza returns Tuesdays and Thursdays; Tailgate Saturday with Brandon and Mikey P launched this weekend; Betcha-powered live watch-alongs continue. New "story time with the Coach" episodes are coming to Coach and Bro.

Coach is out on personal business, so Mikey P runs the Friday show solo with Soupy, and the college football sicko community got exactly what it wanted. The headline is Lane Kiffin's LSU: a Louisiana judge ruled the Tigers can reinstate and play their pro-eligible players, with a midnight deadline to decide. Both hosts expect Kiffin to pull the trigger, but Mikey P — a lifelong LSU fan who says he's officially out — has a different message for the rest of the sport: stop complaining and beat LSU. That sets up what he calls the game he's most excited for since USC–Texas in the Rose Bowl: LSU at Ole Miss in Week 3. (The ruling is not final and the situation remains fluid; the debate here is the hosts' opinion.)
Then, the upset: UMass walked into Rutgers as a 29.5-point underdog and won 37-21 — the program's first win in 677 days, first road win since 2023, and first win over a current power-conference opponent since 1978, with QB "Pop" Watson making the thumbnail. Mikey P eats crow on his Rutgers -29.5 ticket, Soupy explains why 56 new players and a coordinator who knows Greg Schiano's program made this UMass team different, and both note Rutgers reportedly paid $1.5M for the privilege. Plus: Colorado and Deion Sanders win in Atlanta, Ben Simmons lands with the Kings, and Mikey P plants his flag (again) that Fernando Mendoza takes the Raiders job from Kirk Cousins by Week 8 — Soupy says the rookie holds a clipboard until 2028.
Gridiron Time previews the NFC North. Mikey P (an admitted Bears homer) argues Green Bay is in real trouble with Micah Parsons on PUP and Josh Jacobs on the Commissioner's Exempt list — and questions the Packers GM saying the team "hasn't seen the video evidence." (Jacobs' situation is unresolved; nothing has been adjudicated.) The two debate MarShawn Lloyd vs. the newly acquired Kaleb Johnson for fantasy, whether Detroit is the real No. 2 and how long Dan Campbell can keep "Dan Campbell-ing," and how far Kyler Murray can take Minnesota (Soupy: Justin Jefferson is the best receiver in football; Mikey P: have you met Ja'Marr Chase?). They close on Giants RB Cam Skattebo's comments about considering retirement, Soupy's weekend watch list, and Mikey P's Friday-night play: San Jose State +money vs. Eastern Michigan.
Housekeeping from the top of the show: BTT Wrestling has The Last Word, two Coach and Bro episodes and The 2 Count this week · Saturday-night LSU–Clemson live watch-along with Betcha · new Saturday-morning BTT college football show with Brandon Combs and Mikey P · Fight Time with Mikey P previews UFC Paris with Leah Dorchenez · "Get Your Ass Out of Bed" tee now in the merch shop.

The NBA has officially dropped the hammer on the Los Angeles Clippers. Simply The Coach, Mikey P, and Peyton react to the league’s salary-cap circumvention ruling, which strips Los Angeles of five first-round picks, fines the franchise $30 million, suspends Steve Ballmer for one year, and requires Kawhi Leonard to pay $700,000. The crew debates whether the financial penalties are meaningful for billionaires and highly paid stars, why the lost picks could cripple the franchise, and whether the Kawhi Leonard–Paul George era will be remembered as one of basketball’s biggest roster-building disasters.
College football returns with Deion Sanders taking Colorado to Georgia Tech in Atlanta, while LSU begins the Lane Kiffin era against Clemson. The panel reacts to Dabo Swinney’s “embarrassing” comments, and Rafael Esparza returns with “Inside Info” on LSU–Clemson market movement, Georgia at +260 to win the SEC, and the Cincinnati Bengals as an AFC North value play.
The final stretch turns to the NFC East. Can Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and an upgraded defense make the Dallas Cowboys legitimate contenders, or will Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles remain on top? The show closes with the viral high-school linemen hog-trailer entrance, a tease for Justin Gaethje vs. Conor McGregor, and the Raiders’ decision to start Kirk Cousins over Fernando Mendoza.
