Buffy the Gilmore Slayer: A Buffy and Gilmore Girls Podcast

We did it! We finished all of Gilmore Girls and recorded our longest episode ever! Probably our longest intro ever too, due to some neighbor drama and lingering thoughts about bidets. For as many issues as the revival series has, we really enjoyed this episode with its barrage of old characters and tear-jerking scenes. We do our best to figure out the meaning of whales and what the heck the show is trying to say about money. The final four words weren't quite what Byran predicted, but he did get some of them right. And we hope we didn't make you snort your coffee with that one thing.

• Here's Lauren Graham on a morning show addressing whether or not there'll ever be more Gilmore Girls.
• Here's that recent  Amy Sherman-Palladino interview.
• And here's that TikTok about Logan's grandfather lovin' ice!

Welp, things certainly haven't gotten less weird in the Buffy comics since we last chatted. We get appearances by plenty of old friends from the TV show and get introduced to vampy cats! You know, vampy cats... adorable, little, women-hating terror creatures. Harmony gets her own reality show, which somehow alters the status quo of the entire world. We meet a group of werewolves who are super afraid of knives. If you're a fan of the episode "Storyteller" you'll be happy to know the smoking jacket and camcorder make a comeback. And Giles befriends a baby!

If you want to follow along,  here's a list of the Buffy Season 8 comics. Stick to the titles and skim past the bodies of text if you're trying to avoid spoilers.

Comics covered in this episode include: Season 8 Issues 21-30, interspersed with:

• Harmony Bites
• Vampy Cat Play Friend
• Tales of the Vampires
• Harmony Comes to the Nations
• Carpe Notctem (Parts 1&2)
• Always Darkest

We're taking a break from our regularly-scheduled content to tell you about our travels! First, we share our experience hosting the Gilmore Girls cast panel, including which cast member has an alter ego. Then we move on to Italy, where we found bidets quite overwhelming. Florence had both the best and worst food, including sandwiches made by sloths. We encountered a few scams involving roses, trains, and Colosseums. Wine is pretty much free, though it sometimes comes with a lil bit o' cough. And Stacey can't stop thinking about that man in the window...

Here's the story about the actor from Gladiator.

Oh Summer... you were definitely weird and bad at times, but we still had fun. Lorelai volunteers to watch the first draft of Taylor's musical, for which she definitely had some notes, and so do we! Rory volunteers for a job that most definitely should pay. However, money rules tend to defy logic in Rory's orbit. Emily slept iiin!? She's also dating, eating in the living room, and has absolutely no idea whats inside her puffs. Bryan has some WILD predictions for the final 4 words, and be sure to stay to the very end to find out if men can "Wild" too!

Okay, so things definitely got a bit weirder in this chunk of comics. We've got tree people; we've got a fish man; we've got a real sexy snake lady, and boy, does Dawn get up to some stuff. Our heroes travel the globe, and reunite with a very famous vampire from Season 5. Buffy travels through time to future New York City, where she's meets someone famous from the comics with a very interesting family connection. We then get a break from our regularly scheduled Season 8 comics to head back to Season 1. Now if you don't mind, we'd like to get back to our pasta.

If you want to follow along,  here's a list of the Buffy Season 8 comics. Stick to the titles and skim past the bodies of text if you're trying to avoid spoilers.

Comics covered in this episode include: Season 8 Issues 12-20, as well as "Willow: Goddesses and Monsters".

If you want to try watching the motion version of the comics, they're available to purchase on Amazon or YouTube. We recommend!

It's Wookie week! Rory still can't figure out her life, and Lorelai's is maybe starting to crumble a bit as well. We get to see a lot of old familiar faces in this episode, as well as one we've never seen. We take a trip back to Chilton where we get a whole lotta Headmaster, and liiiittle bit of the side of fake Tristan's face. It's hard to tell which is more impressive, how tall Paris' house is or how high she got her foot in the air. We loved to hate all that nonesense Sandy Says did with her hands. Plus our water might be killing us, but not as fast as our superintendent killed our old chair.

We've got some notes, per ushe, but we're really digging the comics so far! ...despite the super creepy, possibly problematic, underground slime monster. Buffy's back with a full slayer army, a big ole slayer budget, and big ole lil sis. The big bad seems to be a Marvel villain with a hairy chest and a secret identity... fer NOW! We get a lot of fun cameos, a very satisfying amount of Dark Giles, but also a lot more bath stuff than we expected. And please... don't hesitate to DM us if you'd like to see the pic of Buffy's sexy cherub dream.

As you may have heard, we're going to be doing some traveling coming up. We're heading to Maine for the Gilmore Girls Fan Festival. One of use has a work trip, and we've finally booked our trip to Italy! Rather than put a big ole pause in the middle of Season 8, we've decided it will be best to start releasing episodes every other week for the next few months. This episode explains all that, plus we throw in a few little stories, such as our mysterious Italian B&B and Bryan's recent shopping cart incident. Thanks for being understanding!

We're kicking off Season 8 by heading back to a snowy Stars Hollow to see what our old friends are up to! Some things have changed a lot in the last 9 years, but mostly things are weirdly pretty much the same. Luke and Lorelai don't seem to have had any meaningful conversations since we last saw them, unless you count the time Luke said, "That's the kid." Of course we were excited to see a classic Gilmore kitchen fight. We were just shocked to see Rory's bare feet. Bryan's got a wild theory about Paul involving and Doyle/Johnathan. And overall, we really enjoyed watching this!

If you want to follow along,  here's a list of the Buffy Season 8 comics, just to give you an idea of how many there are and how they're packaged. Stick to the titles and skim past the bodies of text if you're trying to avoid spoilers. We have some suggestions at the end of the episode for how you might obtain them.

This week, we summarize our thoughts on both series overall. We choose 10 favorite episodes from each show for a hypothetical weekend binge. Bryan can't believe Stacey didn't pick "Haunted Leg" but if you're counting, Bryan actually picked 11 Buffy episodes, so maybe she would have if she knew you could cheat. We make some final comparisons, realizing there's an interesting coloration regarding family. Somehow Charmed got an extra Season, so we finish reading its IMDb summaries. (Who the hell is Billie!?) But mostly just a lot of love for these two shows we're very grateful to have shared with each other and our journey with all of you.

Here it is... the moment you've been waiting for...  our special occasion meatball recipe.

Plus, here's that TikTok we mentioned, where we play a couple at Sookie's wedding.
