The MyBaby Craniosacral Podcast

Building a Thriving Business in the Perinatal World with Dr. Sarah Winward, ND, IBCLC, ICST

Listen Later

In the world of perinatal care, building a successful business requires more than just expertise and passion. It requires strategic networking, effective communication, and a clear understanding of your value as a practitioner. In this episode, Dr. Sarah Winward shares her advice on building a successful business in the field of baby bodywork. She provides strategies for networking, building relationships with other practitioners, and creating a business that doesn't lead to burnout. She emphasizes the importance of personalized care, building trust with clients, and knowing your limitations as a practitioner. Dr. Winward also discusses the structure of her appointments, combining lactation support, craniosacral therapy, and naturopathic medicine to provide comprehensive care for both babies and parents.

About Dr. Sarah Winward:

Sarah Winward is a Naturopathic Doctor, Board Certified Lactation Consultant and Infant Craniosacral Therapist. She completed an Honours Bachelor of Science in Medical Physics and Applied Radiation Sciences at McMaster University. About a year into her Masters in the same field, she realized that she was meant to work with people, not with machines and computer programming. Searching for a path in the health care world led her to Naturopathic Medicine- the perfect blend of science and traditional wisdom that focuses on the patient as a whole person. She graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2016. After graduation, she went on to study lactation, first at the International Breastfeeding Centre, then among a number of community practitioners. With 500 hours of hands-on lactation support under her belt, she wrote her IBCLC exam in 2020, while in lockdown.
