The Buffalo Bills lost to the New England Patriots 29-26.

But the frustrating part isn't simply that Buffalo lost.

It's how many of the problems that contributed to the loss feel completely avoidable.

This Bills team has legitimate Super Bowl aspirations. They have Josh Allen. They have championship expectations. And yet, year after year, Buffalo seems willing to tolerate very specific weaknesses instead of aggressively addressing them.

That's what makes games like this so frustrating.

The Buffalo Bills are no longer undefeated.

Buffalo falls to 3-1 after a frustrating 29-26 loss to the New England Patriots in Week 4, and there are plenty of questions coming out of this one. The Bills held a 17-14 halftime lead and later rallied to take a 26-21 lead in the fourth quarter, but they couldn't close the door.

On this episode of the 1st and 5 Podcast, we break down exactly what went wrong. Drake Maye threw for 269 yards and three touchdowns, including the go-ahead 23-yard touchdown to Efton Chism with 1:50 remaining. New England finished with 405 total yards and 26 first downs, while Buffalo managed 340 yards and possessed the ball for just 26:19.

For Buffalo, Josh Allen finished with 253 passing yards and a touchdown, while also scoring his 88th career scrimmage touchdown to become the Bills' franchise leader. Keon Coleman delivered a huge performance with 116 receiving yards and a touchdown, but Allen's interception on Buffalo's final possession ended any chance at a comeback.
