Buried Bylines

In 1990, substitute teacher Paige Marie Renkoski, 30, vanished under chilling circumstances on Interstate 96 near Fowlerville, Michigan. What began as an ordinary day—dropping her mother at the airport and stopping at a store in Canton—ended in a mystery that remains unsolved over three decades later.

Witnesses last saw Paige appearing upset and speaking with two men beside a maroon minivan. Hours later, her 1986 Oldsmobile was found idling on the roadside with her purse and shoes inside—but no sign of Paige. The case suffered early missteps: police treated the scene as an abandoned vehicle rather than a potential crime scene, delaying vital investigation. Despite fingerprints, tips, searches—like ground-penetrating radar and FBI digs—no trace of Paige has ever been found. The case remains one of Michigan’s most puzzling cold cases, with authorities believing it may only be solved if someone steps forward, perhaps even decades from now.

Join us as we unravel the timeline, examine the evidence, explore the tragic theories, and sit with the hope—and heartbreak—that still lingers in the search for Paige.

We have 70 episodes and TWO YEARS under our belt y’all! That is cuckoo bananas. Thank you all so much for listening and spreading the word about our podcast AND these cases. We love you all so much!

On this episode, both Mallory and Megan bring you updates on past cases: The disappearance of baby Amiah Robertson in Indianapolis, the wrongful arrests and detainments of the Akeos in Mexico, the long-suspected and now confirmed Portland, Oregon Serial Killer, arrests in the cold case murder of Farmer Lowell Badger in Indiana, and a real-time update in the murder of Emily Pike in Arizona.

Again, from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU for everything. Here is to 657 more years of BB.

If you love us (how could you not lol) please consider giving us a five-star rating and review on whatever platform you use to listen, share us with a friend, and follow us on social media. You rock our socks… (hopefully we will actually have merch soon, so stay tuned!)

We’re thrilled to bring you a first in this episode: not one, but two special guests — neither of whom we know personally! We're honored to be joined by Robert Anglen and Lauren De Young from AZCentral, a newspaper with the USA Today network. Together, we’ll be discussing the unsolved murder of 14-year-old Emily Pike in Arizona.

Emily was an Indigenous teen who loved the color pink, her cat, and all things glitter. In January, she went missing after sneaking out of the group home where she was staying in Mesa. For nearly three weeks, her loved ones searched for her— until her body was tragically discovered, dismembered and left in garbage bags off Highway 60. Police are actively investigating, but many questions remain unanswered. By sharing Emily’s story, we can help bring attention to her case and, hopefully, find the justice and peace that she and her family deserve.
