With the lockdown everyone is now a streaming/internet DJ. Will be interesting to see what comes out of this lockdown period musically. I'm certainly not complaining about the increased listener/viewer numbers with everyone working from home.
This weeks mix as always was a last minute decision in terms of theme. I'm not sure why but somehow I landed on 1995! Inspired by the excellent MAW Ministry release that. Heads will recognise some of the transitions.
Part way through the first hour I ran into a bit of trouble, every track I thought of turned out to be 1996!! So the second half sees us transition into music from 96.
It was also supposed to be Stateside or at least have that US House vibe, but towards the end I remembered early Nice and Ripe was from this same year so we see some of those tracks make an appearance.
Hopefully this is a nice trip down memory lane to a time when the thought of the planet going into lockdown for weeks and months sounded like something out of a sci-fi movie.

This months mix is a guest mix on someone else's show!
I hosted the Underground Jack show last Saturday on D3EP Radio Network.
I wasn't able to play on Pressure the previous week, so this kinda made up for it.
With 30 minutes to go before the show I decided to go with "Re-Tide" as a theme. I grabbed all of their tracks and went for it. The result is an intense energy packed hour long mix.
The second hour I'm joined by another Sydney resident Mr Adrian Benedek from Fallen Disco. He blends a nice disco mix on the slightly more commercial side, sliding into Jackin' sounds towards the end. Altogether it makes for 2hrs of funky disco grooves.

For the first time in a long time we have two releases in the same month! The last mix was a crate digging session. This time it's the fresh new sounds of 2020, with a dash of late 2019. This is actually attempt two for this mix. The first one was wrecked by my controller playing up and dropping the BPM on the right deck down to 121. I've been listening to the recording from that show for the last couple of weeks and decided it needed doing again without Mr Denon getting in the way. This version isn't exactly the same, you always find ways to improve.
A big shout has to go out to Sondrio and Mo' Funk, who I heard play B2B at S.A.S.H By Day in January warming up for Black Loops. The set blew my mind, crazy track selection and flow. I've never shazzamed so much in my life and luckily it actually worked this time!
There are a few of the tracks they played in this set including the awesome Projections by Henry Wu that almost had me in tears!

These are the most fun mixes to makes and hopefully you enjoy them too. No plan, just casting my net across the whole digital collection and seeing where we go.
It resulted some real gems from the past being unearthed. Nothing really obscure, just those tracks you used to listen to all the time maybe 15, 20 years ago. I was really proud I managed to double the number of listeners during the show, it's great when your show is like a sticky ball of honey. People come in and can't leave :)
This is definitely a sing along mix with a soulful heart. A good mix of producers from both sides of the pond.
With a bit of luck this is the first of two mixes this month with the second being the usual mix of new tracks.
This is the one you'll probably come back to again and again, especially if you listen to a lot of my mixes.

Firstly Happy New Year everyone. Hope this is a great year for you all and you managed to spend some quality time away from work with loved ones over the holidays.
2019 was a pretty barren year for mixes for me so I am very happy to be able to put out a mix to kick off the new decade and without it being a last minute rush.
That said it was a last minute rush starting the radio show that the recording comes from. 40 minutes to get home from the city, get changed, grab food, download new music, power up the systems and connect to the radio! But I managed it :)
As a result I wasn't expecting a podcastable show, ,especially as I had only bought nine new tracks. However I was pleasantly surprised as the mix unfolded. The more I hear it, the more I like it - so here we are.

It's been a long time since I released a mix of new music so I was pleased with the outcome of last Thursdays show.
As always, no idea what I would play or in what order. That's often what stops me releasing a mix as it doesn't always flow right, or some of the mixes don't work.
Thankfully this time things worked out well. It's a mix with three distinct sections. Firstly we have the deep mellow sounds to get us warmed up, before getting into a more traditional soulful section. That transitions into something a little thicker. Just as you start to wonder just how tough we are gonna go, up pops Sandy Rivera to commence our decent.
Christmas parties and kids holidays will interfere with December's shows but we will see if we can get something out there in time for Xmas.

Been away far too long. Lot's of travel kept me away from the decks for a number of months now which isn't ideal, but I am back now.
This release is from the live Pressure Radio show on the 17th October. It was my first show in a few week too and I fancied a challenge so I went all in on a vinyl show - on the fly of course :)
It starts off squarely with a UK Garage sound of the mid 90's and for a while it looks like this will be another UK Garage mix, but I figured it would be more fun to mix it up.
The second half of the mix is a real bag of tunes from across the years from the beautiful Romanthony's Ministry of Love to Sandy Rivera's Changes.
I've yet to buy new music so I'm hoping there is a ton of stuff for me to get my teeth into.
In the meantime get your chops around this one and thank you for your patience, this is one of the longest breaks I've had since first learning to spin way back when.

Last Pressure show before I head off to Europe for Suncebeat in Croatia. There was no new music this week, I just didn't have time to find enough.
The mix itself is very deep for me. I think I consciously wanted to have it this deep without knowing which tracks would be right.
The second half of the mix ended up being a homage to Germany's Lovebirds. What was meant to be the odd one or two ended up being the remainder of the show.
That's a good thing, a very good thing because his style and sound have been top class for most of the last ten years.
I'm sure I've said it before but if you see me at Sunce come and say "hi". I don't bite and would love to meet the people that listen and support. For those of you on the boat parties you will be able to find me up at the aft of the boat for the Conniousseurs, Diridim, Zanziboat, Basement Boys, Kaoz and Farewell parties.

So here we are then the third and final piece of the marathon session with Gary Ward. Bit of context required for this last session.
Firstly - we'd been playing for four hours already and it was by now 1am on a school night.
Secondly - Gary had been in the pub through the afternoon and turned up with a six pack of beer. Problem was I don't drink beer, so they were all Gary's. As you can imagine by 1am there weren't any beers left! Not to feel left behind - I mean it's important we are playing from the same head space. I made every effort to finish off the bottle of Mr Black that was in my cupboard.
So we weren't Drunk, but there was a bit of looseness.
You can hear it make an appearance more often in this last session. but don't let that put you off, we were playing one track each and had been for an hour. That gave us time to crate dig some huge tracks. We continued with the theme and moved from MAW to Kerri Chandler and finally Sandy Rivera.
The tanks were absolutely drained by the end of the set. But we had a mental time and are looking to do it all again.
