In this weekend's homily, Deacon Moss shares a personal experience while camping in his native Nebraska. He recounts his experience with the darkness after the sunset. If the night was cloudy, the darkness was profound, but on a clear night, even the light of the moon and stars shone through the darkness. He compares this to today's Gospel message where "The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom a light has shone." Jesus chose this land because the people who came there came from all around, so that when the light came, it would go out to all of the nations. Of course, the light that Jesus brings is His very self. Jesus is with us in the joyful moments of our lives, and in a close and profound way in the darkness, too. The light of Christ pierces our through our darkness, and gives us hope. We receive the light of Christ at Baptism. This week, be the Light of Christ for someone. Have a blessed week.
