NAB2014 recap of FCPX news. In this episode we met with Michael Garber and Sam Mestman. Michael and Sam were at NAB representing FCP Works and had finished two long days of demos and we got together in the DCC Hospitality Suite at 11PM to discuss what had been going on at the show. Sam gives us the rundown of the demo he was doing in the Red booth showing FCPX and Resolve and a roundtrip workflow.

I wanted to call this episode, “Audio Comes After the Video” because I usually pick something the guest says that makes me chuckle but at the last minute I thought it would be better to let everyone know that Steve Miller is a hardcore Premiere user and self professed evangelist. There’s also a healthy dose of  “How to Wire a Podcast”  in the first few minutes but that is NOT what this episode is about. Steve Miller (not that one) is a MONSTER of an effects based editor. As owner of Steevco in Norther California, Steve travels all over the country doing, among other things, short turn around edits. As we wrapped a multi day edit on Kona, The Big Island, Steven Luksic and I decided to chronicle our workflow that neither of us had actually used before. Two guys, two computer, one timeline, and we seamlessly were able to work side by side with Stephen feeding me selects in a fast workflow that allowed me to continue cutting while he was sifting thru 4 cameras worth of material for me. Excuse the audio quality, we only had one mic and had to share it.
