Our God keeps His Word, His Word came down to us to redeem us and make us His kids. That is the message of Christmas. 

All things are lawful, but not all things are helpful. Living out grace practically. Looking out for others. Seeking the salvation of others. Imitating Christ.

Israel repents for their idolatry, Samuel intercedes for the people, the Philistines are defeated ushering in an era of peace in the land. As Samuel ages he appoints his sons as judges but they are unfaithful in their ministry causing the people to cry out for a king. Samuel solemnly forewarns the people about life under a king.

Acts 27 gives the account of Paul and his shipmates being caught in a monstrous storm. 14 days without food and little sight of the sun Paul gives this encouragement to the crew and travelers, "Take nourishment, this is for your survival." 

The Philistines struggle with God's judgment and resolve to return the ark of the covenant to Israel. Israel rejoices to see the return of the ark but fail to recognize God's holiness.
