Being a citizen of Philippi came with great privileges in the Roman empire. But Paul reminds them that they have a citizenship of great value.

Paul's confidence about his relationship with God has nothing to do with what he has done ... but rests completely in what God has done for him through Jesus.

Having already given the example of Jesus (2:1-18) Paul now gives the Philippians the examples of Timothy and Epaphroditus ... two men who are selfless in their service and committed to the Gospel.

In one of the golden passages of the Bible Paul holds up Jesus as our example of humility, service and obedience.

It may look like Paul is trying to see the silver lining in an otherwise dark cloud. He is is prison ... but see this has helped to advance the gospel.

This is the opening of Paul's letter to the Philippians. He tells us what he prays for them ... which can help us when it comes to our prayer life.

Our natural tendency is to think of ourselves first ... to think about "me" before I think about others. Jesus says that if you want to be great in his kingdom then you need to be come the servant of everyone ... think of others before thinking of yourself.

This Psalm has a very specific setting. It is David's confession following his adultry with Bathsheba. It teaches us about sin. And it h=teaches us about God.

Living in one of the most affluent countries in the world, Christians in Australia need to think about how we handle our money ... and in the Parable of the Rich Fool Jesus helps us to have the right attitude.

The Bible ... and Jesus ... have a lot to say about money. If we are serious about following Jesus then we need to make sure that our attitudes to money are shaped by our faith.
