Humanity is facing the climate crisis and the development of AI as two major existential crises. However, there is a growing conversation about how AI can actually help solve the climate crisis. Currently, there are different regulations on AI development in the European and British parliaments. While the EU is focused on countering the risks associated with advanced AI development, the British approach aims to ensure compliance with existing laws. There is a need to strike a balance between safeguarding AI innovation and preserving democracy. AI has the potential to accelerate efforts in addressing climate change, such as identifying energy inefficiencies and aiding biodiversity protection. To achieve meaningful solutions, there must be a positive discussion on incorporating AI into climate policies and investments.
