To praise or not to praise is the question we are asking when it comes to young children. "What a good boy, what a good girl!' may well be considered terms of encouragement, but is too much praise a good, or a bad thing?

Dr Amanda Niland, a senior lecturer in early childhood at Sydney University and program director of the Master of teaching early childhood believes it's the way we hand out praise that can make the difference to our child's wellbeing.
