An unfortunate snakebite derailed our normal schedule, but I wanted to give an update and share a bit of a bragging montage with you as a consolation prize.  We all listen to KTCK "The Ticket" in Dallas and are fans of the bragging montage which is often requested during the Why Today Doesn't Suck segment featuring BaD Radio and the Hardline.  Listeners email in and request bragging montages featuring Jake, Bob or Corby.  So I had been saving some of these snippets and put our own together.  I have also included a small clip which was part of a much bigger segment that got cut due to the fact we didn't want our families after us for crossing the line of decorum.

On this week's edition, Heavy Longmire surprises us with some very passionate views on Honey Buns.  Listen to find out why Heavy is so wound up about the Honey Bun.

The episode starts out with a listener email from "Pretty Little Nurse" who is making a move to the Bay Area of Northern California from her home in the 903 area code.  Despite the fact that Gustav is the only one of the crew to have ever been there, the boys dole out some very confusing ideas about Chinatown, Gremlins, Goonies and geography.  But not surprisingly, most of their advice is solid and helpful.

Her email leads Gustav down a rabbit trail of trying to remember a grandiose music video by Guns N' Roses.  Listen to how old age has eroded Gustav's memory to the point that he has to look up the video for "Estranged" on his phone by searching "Gun N' Roses dolphin video"

Then Heavy launches into his rant about Honey Buns and brags about beating a Cajun in a jalapeno eating contest.  Talk of the pickled jalapeno leads the boys into a discussion on pickling various foods.  Food talk then brings about the strange tale of Gustav's eating habits while he is on his business travels as well as how he gave Heavy's mom a complex by never eating Momma Longmire's cooking while they were growing up.

More of Gustav's eccentric tendencies are revealed when he brags about having never seen a Julia Roberts movie.  Longmire tries to shame him by pointing out that Gustav has also never seen Top Gun, although it doesn't seem to phase him.

Ty throws out a Jackie Rogers Jr. reference just for Gustav.  Both Ty and Gustav were big SCTV fans but the listeners are probably going to be scratching their heads. Jackie Rodgers Jr. was an albino entertainer played by Martin Short on the great SCTV.

And finally Gustav wonders about how the Millennials are going to deal with the looming Bush Crisis.  A generation of young men have matured in a world where women shave or wax their pubic hair.  The crew ponders how they will react when the women someday tire of maintaining their nether regions and let things revert back to the full bush of the Seventies and Eighties.

This week's episode is a special emergency episode of the Can You Hear Me? Podcast.  We ran out of pre-recorded material and could not manage to get together to record.  With Heavy lost somewhere in a thicket in the 903 Wilderness and Ty off being a professional and doing professional things, Gustav was left on his own.   Through the miracle of Skype, Gustav enlisted his lesbian best friend of the last 20 years, the Fake Bailey Jay, to help out with this week's episode.

One of the Fake Bailey Jay's passions is horror movies and that has led her down the sometimes bizarre path of attending horror fan conventions.  Not content to slum it with the plebes, Fake Bailey Jay has coughed up the cash to elevate herself to VIP status and jump ahead of the ordinary people.

Gustav is fascinated by the alternate reality, where character actors get paid to sign 8x10 glossy photos of themselves from 30 years ago and to take selfies with adoring fans.  The Fake Bailey Jay explains how the conventions work and then talks about a few of the more memorable celebrities that she has met along the way including:

On Episode 10 of the Can You Hear Me? Podcast, the crew is back and in a stream of consciousness conversation mood.  Straight out of the shoot (old timer term right there), Gustav poses the question of where do the guys choose to drop the kids off at the pool.  Are they free range or do they prefer the comfort of their home base?

Then Gustav describes how the Lord tested him to be on his best behavior while on a couples date with Mrs. Gustav and very nice LDS couple.  Throughout the night, Gustav is tempted and tested to show his true colors.  Finally, he can't take it anymore during a tense game of Banagrams.

Next, the crew turns their attention to cults.  The guys were kids when Jim Jones and the People's Temple hit the news and Gustav remembers fears about the Moonies.  Cult talk leads into a brief dip into the Satanic Scare of the 1980's which seems to have affected just about every Gen X kid in the Bible Belt.

We can't talk about the Satanic Scare of the 1980's without mentioning an eerie location in North Texas which seemed to be a hotbed of strange drifters, supposed Satanic cult activity, weird botany and general negative vibes. Ty and Heavy each share tales of encounters with drifters which could have gone a lot worse.  The main take away seems to be to stay away from anyone in an old van in the woods.

As Heavy describes it, the area along the Texas/Oklahoma border is "The Red River Valley".  We describe the peculiar hole in the wall non-descript bars which you find on the Oklahoma side of the Red River.  Heavy retells an Oklahoma stripper story "a friend" told him which leads the boys to Jukebox talk.

Fondly recalling the jukebox at the old Pizza Hut in our hometown leads us into "Going out to Eat" talk and how it and parenting has changed from the seventies/eighties to how we now live.  Back then it was a much more parent-centric world, but now we are a child-centric world full of three over protective fathers.

On this week's episode of the Can You Hear Me? Podcast, the gang travels down the path of awkward things you run into during day to day life.  We dive straight in and things get weird and funny.

Gustav shares stories about some odd things he has observed while traveling for business including people that forget to close their blinds across the courtyard of the hotel and some of the freaky hijinx that people get into in the hot tub.

Then Ty tells us about the weird behaviors at his hole in the wall gym he belongs to.  Heavy and Gustav are amazed as Ty recounts thinking that he saw a woman walking around the gym wearing only a shirt with no pants.

Ty then tells how his overly polite nature led to an awkward stretching situation which may have scarred him for life.  True to type, Heavy and Gustav offer little sympathy, but a lot of unhelpful one liners.  Listen to Ty's stretching story and let us know how you would have handled the situation.  Would you have stayed or would you have gone?

In the final tale of the worst gym in the world, Ty describes a hygiene problem that he has observed with regard to a fellow gym member.  Heavy and Gustav are full of helpful ideas on how to deal with the situation.  But in the end Ty  is back to square one and left living in fear of all the contaminated gym equipment.
