As the coterie rushed the sheriff to the hospital, Evangeline lost control and strangled Doris, who managed to leap out of the trunk and narrowly escape a member of the Pyramid, only to have her own beast force Barty to repair his door. The altercation between Val and Everett continued in the basement. Doris followed the sheriff’s orders and returned upstairs to draw, Evangeline left as well, though only after Val was staked, un-staked, and staked again and Everett ordered her to leave, and finally Val put Everett into torpor with her fists and brought his limp body upstairs to gloat. After harsh words were exchanged, Evangeline pursued Val to talk her down, but Val’s beast had other, more violent ideas.
