Over the past decade, cancer research has delivered remarkable advances — from precision therapies and immunotherapy breakthroughs to improved survival for patients with breast, lung, colon, and prostate cancers. Yet the global picture remains uneven: many cancers remain under-researched, access to the latest treatments is often dictated by geography and income, and research is still largely shaped by Western priorities and populations. In this conversation with Cancer Research Malaysia, Dr Elizabeth Jaffee and Prof Dr Electra Paskett from the American Association for Cancer Research, we explore the progress, the blind spots, and what it will take to close the cancer gap globally. For more information or to register for ‘AACR on Campus in Malaysia’, in Kuala Lumpur (10-11 November) and Kuching, Sarawak (13-14 November), visit the website.
