Praise and worship is a lifestyle, not just something you do on Sunday

In the Psalms there are 180 direct references to 'praise' and 16 Psalms start with the declaration, 'Praise the Lord!' In the Psalms we see many ways that we can praise the Lord. Here are 23 that Pastor Jon come up with:

I praise with my whole heart and soul.

I praise continually.

I praise as an example and inspiration for the generations.

I praise with understanding and readiness.

I praise sacrificially.

I praise according to His Word.

I praise with declaration.

I praise prepared to fight.

I praise better than yesterday.

I praise with song.

I praise with a 'new' song.

I praise with others.

I praise with reverence.

I praise with instruments.

I praise with my mouth.

I praise with joy.

I praise with dance.

I praise boastfully.

I praise according to His name and nature.

I praise to testify to the world.

I praise loudly.

I praise spontaneously.

I praise triumphantly.

Scripture: Deuteronomy 1:1-4

Why would you remain east of Jordan? Just a stone's throw from your promise?

Acceptance of the past:

Isa 43:16-19 - God is a God of new things. He hasn't exhausted His creativity.

Don't get satisfied with the past or you'll miss out on seeing the new things. Baby you ain't seen nothing yet. He didn't exhaust His creativity on creation. He is a God of new things. 

Distraction of the present:

SUPH - a marsh or swampland - Speaks of stagnation. Immerse yourself in the river of life.  

PARAN - caves/caverns - Speaks of hidden things in our lives - Ps 139:11-12. Secrets and habits that have prevented you from reaching the fullness of you potential in God. 

TOPHEL - mortar/building - Speaks of building homes, careers, security for the future at the expense of relationship with Jesus.

LABAN - 'off-white' - Speaks of deception - The enemy's vice - 2 Cor 11:14; Rev 12:9. A subtle tool used by the enemy. Expose it to the light and it will show for what it is. 

HAZEROTH - small, tiny village - Speaks of small, limited thinking. Don't downsize the dream. He is a greater than God. 

DI-ZAHAB - region of gold - Speaks of wealth. The riches of the world are a weight. 

Lack of vision for the future:

 

Prov 29:18 - Where there is no vision the people perish.

Phil 3:13-14 - Paul encourages us to forget what is behind, focus on what lies ahead and reach for the prize.

Don't settle east of Jordan

Scripture:  Deuteronomy 1:1-8

God says to the children of Israel:

'You've stayed at this mountain long enough.' You can't live in the shadow of yesterdays anointing or experience. Soon your action becomes ROTE and that leads to a RUT if you stay there long enough. The RUT becomes a ROT.

'Break Camp.' Pull up the tent pegs that tie you to the past. There are 6 tent pegs - positive or negative experience; comfort; fear; guilt and failure; stubbornness; pride.

'move on.' God's people are always meant to be on the move. Don't be a tent dweller, be a promise seeker.

'Go to the hill country of the Amorites....' When we step into the promises of God there is blessing from every direction, even in the desert, the valley and in the land of our enemies.

'I am giving all this land to you!' God has already set aside the land for us. We spend a lot of time claiming through prayer what God has already promised by grace! This doesn't mean that stepping in to the promise is going to be easy.

'Go in and occupy it.' There is a difference between settling and occupying (possessing). Settling is to dwell; occupying is to take over. When we occupy the land we drive out the enemy who lay claim to the land and we build an inheritance for the next generation.

CONCLUSION: It's sad that the children of Israel settled again, this time east of Jordan.

FAITH FOR FINANCE

Jesus said. 'For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.' It stands to reason that, if Jesus wants our heart, He will examine our attitude to our treasure.

There are 500 verses in the Bible regarding prayer; about the same regarding faith. But over 2000 verses regarding money and possessions.

In 16 out of 38 recorded parables Jesus spoke about money.

PRINCIPLES OF FAITH FOR FINANCE

God blesses the generous life - Ps 112.

When you need provision give more! - 1 Kings 17:8-16.

See blessing in what you get AND what you don't get.

Multiplication blessing happens when we give to the Lord FIRST.

Test the Lord at His Word - Mal 3:10

Tithing is the heart test of the believer.

Remember you're a steward not an owner.

Practice thankfulness each day.

Legacy Living

Leave a legacy that is Good, that is God, that is Great. 

God has a purpose for you that is extra ordinary. 

A legacy is something that is handed down. Everyone has a legacy and leaves s legacy.. 

No matter what legacy I have received, I can choose to change the one I leave. 

You can leave a legacy that will help or hinder. Put in place today what we want for tomorrow. 

Jesus left the ultimate legacy. Invest in legacy living. 

What are we demonstrating to the next generation. Let's do everything we can. 

Heb11:8-12. Abraham understood that there were generations to follow. Gen12:1-4. This promise applies to all of us and we are part of this legacy. But it does not finish. We are an echo for generations to come. Who do you see. 

Abraham heard Gods call. Your call is enough. We need to hear his voice. God reveals things on the pathway of obedience. Know whose you are. Let's start with what we know His purpose is. We are called to become like Him. We are called to build the church. 

Abraham knew where his home was. We want to see immediate results but God doesn't work that way. He began to live in the present as if it was the future. Be prepared to leave behind what is known. Be flexible and less comfortable. Is there too much stuff in your life. Are you living in a tent or monument. 

Abraham lived with a eternity in mind. Our short time on earth will affect our eternal life. 

Abraham lived with an activated faith. It's about trusting God. He was commended for his faith. Don't just live what you see in the natural. Ro4:20. God has the power to do what He has promised. 

 

Heb11:16. God has called us to something far greater.

Pastor Anthony Peterson message is about faith in spite of the facts.

God can be trusted even in the presence of facts to the contrary.

There is not much difference between faith and weird.

Abraham knew that God cannot lie.

Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness.

Believing comes first, receiving comes afterwards.

Abraham was tested, and his faith was made complete by what he did.

God the father gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him should not perish.

This same righteousness that God credited to Abraham is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.
