We've got the full Capital Golf Gang crew back together this week. Steve Czaban, John Ronis, Jon Guhl and Buddy Christenson get together at Golfdom in Tyson's Corner. At the top of the show the group digs into the old mantra John Ronis learned years ago — "Ability minus Distractions equals Performance" and how it isn't just for the high-performance players and can be incorporated into even the friendliness of rounds.
After a couple of weeks on the road, the Capital Golf Gang returns to fitting bay #1 at Golfdom of Tyson's Corner, VA. Top of the card this week is "How does the PGA Tour actually work?" Who gets into the playoffs? When does the season end? When does it start? What about the LIV guys? Who decides these things?
Should you be able to play the tees you want, or should the course be able to force you to play a specific set of tees based on your handicap?
Czabe assembles the gang again with John Ronis, Buddy Christensen, Christopher Johnson. While we are deep into the hot and sultry dog days of summer, the golf continues. The crazy things people call golf shops about, where does the LIV / PGA tour stand and a quick back 9.
This week the gang breaks down Rickie Fowler's triumphant return to the winner's circle. Plus, not only is Fowler back, but Ron Thomas makes his return this week to the Capital Golf Gang and brings a guest, former PGA Tour player Michael Muehr. The gang dissects what makes Rickie so popular, where his game went off the rails and the grueling process of how he got it back.
Mr. Ronis and Mr. Guhl join Czabe for this week's episode of the Capital Golf Gang. We've got a bit of a wrap up this week as Czabe ties up some loose ends after his trip to Scotland and he and the boys look back at the U.S. Open, the Travelers and other fill-in details that have happened since the last episode two weeks ago. One common theme — if the course is soft, the pro's are going to tear it up.
"Roll down the window, let the breeze flow. Tune in to the Beach Boys, baby, and let the music's rhythm grow." With Randy Newman's iconic "I Love LA" blasting through the radio, the U.S. Open descends upon the prestigious L.A. Country Club this week. This much-anticipated event marks only the 6th occasion the tournament graces California's shores, and it proudly claims its 8th West Coast appearance. As the television screen projects breathtaking visuals, we East Coasters have the joy of immersing ourselves in the action deep into the Saturday and Sunday nights.
The PGA Tour and LIV Tour merger has left the golfing community stunned and curious about its implications. Czabe has assembled the Gang to dig into its financial considerations, legal concerns, the influence of Saudi money. The merger underscores the complex dynamics of the sports landscape today and the impact this merger will have on players, fans, and the sport as a whole will be fascinating to watch.
The on-going popularity of golf and its positive and negative impacts; Emiliano Grillo reminds us of what golf is all about while waiting to start the playoff at the Colonial; the unusual opportunity that came up to strike a moving ball; and the LIV Tour makes its first visit to the DC area.
Five months ago we were all writing Bruce Koepka off. After letting the Masters slip through his fingers he came back and stormed through the PGA Championship and reestablished himself as one of the top players in the world. What it means for his place in the game now having won five majors and it's implication on the Ryder Cup later this year.
