The elections have come and gone, and different civil groups have weighed in on how the 29th May elections went. Civil society group Defend Our Democracy says it is pleased that the elections were free and fair however there is room for improvement. Executive Director of Defend Our Democracy Zaakirah Vadi says there wasn't not enough voter education prior to elections.

The Hlanganisa Community Fund has expressed its disappointment regarding tge fewer numbers of females leading political parties in South Africa. The group released its data ahead of the May 29 general elections saying that there are societal issues that affect mostly women than men and it was going to be better to have a female leader who will be better positioned to address that. Nghamula Chauke spoke to Hlanganisa Community Fund CEO Bongiwe Ndondo who said these political parties are not a true reflection and representation of the demographics of the society.

The Democratic Nurses Organisation of South Africa in Limpopo says in honour of nurses, government should look into employing more nurses in clinics and hospitals across the province as most of these facilities are short staffed. The organisation's Jacob Molepo was responding to the commemoration of International Nurses day that falls on the 12th of May. Molepo also reiterated that it is sad that to this day nurses are working in dilapidated infrastructure which also affect service delivery to patients. Days away from the national and provincial elections on the 29th of May 2024, Nghamula Chauke spoke to Political analyst Prince Mashele about the campaigns and manifestos that have been running thus far and Mashele applauded political parties and South Africans in general for the maturity that they have displayed so far. Mashele says this year's general elections are one of the biggest since the dawn of democracy in 1994.

Former chairperson of the EFF in Limpopo Jossey Buthane has returned to his old political home, the ANC. Buthane told Nghamula Chauke that he intends to make the ANC a better organization than it already is. When asked about the alleged fallout he has with EFF leader Julius Malema, Buthane said he still sees Malema as a brother, but he's irked by the disrespect he received from him adding that he will not sit and watch when provoked, he will obviously act as he has his dignity and that of his family to protect.

Mapisa-Nqakula has resigned as the speaker after her legal bid to interdict her arrest was dismissed by the court. Analysts also believed she couldn't continue in her role as speaker because of the charges she is facing as she couldn't expect support from her political party.

The department says anyone who runs an independent school should register with its office of the HOD. According to chief education specialist from the department, Marwala Rasethaba when speaking to Nghamula Chauke, parents who want to home-school their children are required to register with the department and submit the progress assessments of their children timeously.

Urogynaecologist Dr Dakalo Muavha says there are multiple factors contributing to a lot of unplanned pregnancies especially in black communities. Joining Nghamula Chauke in studio, Dr Muavha was answering questions from 2 of Capricorn Talk listeners who said suggested that, black families do not do family planning. Dr Muavha said inconsistent use of family planning methods are some of the contributing factors. There are also myths about the usage of contraceptives that dissuade people from using them.
