Chief Director for planning and implementation at Department of Basic Education James Ndlebe has reiterated the call by Minister Angie Motshekga to have parents participating in the upcoming school governing body elections. Ndlebe says parents and the community needs to be supportive and involved in the activities of their schools. He says every school must elect their SGB in a year cycle. The elections will be held at all schools across the country from March 1st-31st.

The office of the ANC provincial secretary in Limpopo says it is concerned with the reports they have received from the Makhado municipality. Reports from the DA in the municipality have accused the speaker Gumani Mukwevho who is an ANC deployee of failing to run the council fairly. The DA has since decided to launch a motion of no confidence against Mukwevho which they believe they have support of ANC members who are unhappy with Mukwevho's performance. ANC Limpopo spokesperson Jimmy Machaka has told Nghamula Chauke that the party is working on resolving the matter.

While the South African Human Rights Commission in Limpopo says it is making strides in addressing racism, it is still clear that a lot still needs to be done. Nghamula Chauke spoke to the SAHRC Limpopo provincial manager Victor Mavhidula and other important stakeholders about recent racist incidents especially in small towns of the province. Mavhidula says all stakeholders need to work together to overcome the challenge of racism in some parts of the province.

Congress of Traditional Leaders in South Africa is calling on political leaders to refrain from using traditional leaders for garnering political support. Speaking to Nghamula Chauke, CONTRALESA leader Kgoshi Lameck Mokoena says, during the election season, political leaders visit traditional authorities in numbers making empty promises and after elections they are nowhere to be found.

Commissioner Tshepo Madlingozi from the South African Human Rights Commission has told Nghamula Chauke that there was no evidence to support a link between former President Jacob Zuma's arrest to the July unrests. Madlingozi was communicating the findings of the July Unrests report which was released on recently. He has also indicated that there are recommendations that SAPS and other bodies to conduct further imvestigations beyond the scope of the Human Rights Commission's office.

The Limpopo Human Rights Commission provincial manager Victor Mavhidula told Nghamula Chauke that there has been progress made by the department of education in Limpopo. Mavhidula says although there are still some challenges that need to be addressed, generally many schools have kick started the 2024 academic year on the right footing. He says past challenges of delayed stationery delivery in schools have been overcome as most learners have already received their learning materials, however the biggest concern for now is the issue of overcrowding in some schools. The commission was on a school readiness monitoring program as schools reopened.

Some parents in all the Limpopo districts are still frustrated with the placement of their children for the academic year 2024. Many have decided to camp outside the head offices of the department in Polokwane saying they will not rest until their children are accommodated at the schools of their choice. Speaking to Nghamula Chauke, Education Spokesperson Mike Maringa said the process is still ongoing and is expected to be finalised soon, adding that there are challenges that they are still busy addressing.

The president of the South African Emergency Personnel's Union, Mpho Mpogeng has told Nghamula Chauke that the union is surprised that the Limpopo Health department is reacting with shock to the incident that happened in the Sekhukhune district. This after an EMS crew from Philadelphia hospital was attacked by robbers while responding to an emergency call that happened at Kgobokwane Village. Mpogeng says this problem will never stop until the department prioritises the safety of EMS personnel. He says the department has ignored the calls by the union to have cameras installed in ambulances.

Both Okkie Terblanche, the DA Shadow Deputy Minister of Police and Criminologist Prof. Kholofelo Mabena Rakubu concur that there are elements of recklessness on how some in the security cluster handle safety of firearms and ammunition. This after the security cluster ministers revealed that more than 400 government-issued firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition have been lost or stolen in the past five years. Rakubu and Terblanche told Nghamula Chauke that there is an urgent need to address this problem which affects the safety of the public as these firearms could be used for criminal activities.

Civil society organisation, Conty Lebepe Foundation has accused leaders of Forum for Limpopo Entrepreneurs to stop using its name to fight internal and external battles. Conty Lebepe from the Foundation has accused FOLE's chairperson, Motinki Mahlo of engaging them under the guise of having information to share which was merely at attempt to gather information to smear provincial MEC's. The provincial secretary of FOLE Siviko Mabunda says Mahlo is no longer with the forum, however Mahlo says Mabunda resigned from the forum that he now leads as chairperson. When speaking to Nghamula Chauke, Mahlo denied the allegations made against him by the Conty Lebepe Foundation.
