Thanks for tuning in to the SeaBros Fishing Podcast! Our guest on this episode of the show is Captain Tommy Howd. Tommy is one of the pioneers of daytime swordfishing in the Northeast Canyons. He has more than 75 overnight offshore trips under his belt, including many fishing with his entire family aboard their 61' Richie Howell, "Tokatomist."
Like many of us, Tommy began fishing at a very young age. Fast forward a decade or so, and he ended up landing in the cockpit of the "Canyon Runner", fishing with renowned captains Mark DeBlasio, Deane Lambros, and Mark DeCabia; who has been on our podcast before.
Tommy's current fishing program has him freelancing aboard many private (and charter) sportfishing boats in the Northeast, as well as working with Capt. Damon Sacco aboard the "Castafari" for several trips a season. Tommy also has a well established record in many bluewater tournaments on the East Coast, and he has adapted his deep drop swordfish tactics to be fully IGFA compliant, making him a dynamic tournament captain and mate.
We had a lot of fun during this conversation with Tommy. He shares some incredible fish stories and goes into detail on how he approaches daytime sword fishing in the NE Canyons. Lots of laughs and a TON of good information in this one.
We hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did.
