This week we learned that passion is the fuel that gets us through the discomfort as we hunger and long to see those around us experience our Jesus in a message titled, “Save Your Tears”.

Friendship is a vital, but often-overlooked ingredient to living a vibrant spiritual life. True friends help keep us accountable, they offer support, and they point us back to Jesus. This week we looked at the importance of having and keeping true friends in a message titled, “True Friendship”.

In the ancient world of the Bible, cities had walls surrounding them to provide protection from enemies. When the wall was breached, the city was vulnerable to destruction and the only way to secure it was for people to risk their lives by literally standing in the gap in the wall and fighting the enemy. Here we learn that God calls us to stand in the gap for others. This week our panel discussed various ways we can stand in the gap for those in our lives.

Apathy can strip us of our spiritual fervor and cause us to never take a step forward in our walk with God. However, scripture shows us that God calls us to exactly the opposite. We are called to be risk-takers, agents of change, and to bring hope and light to an increasingly dark world. This week we learned the causes of apathy and how we can combat apathy in our own lives in a message titled, “Apathy Is Working Against Me”.

This weekend we shared Captivate’s future vision and conviction to continue to End Spiritual Loneliness in San Diego. We shared the what, where, who, when, and how to get involved. We can’t wait to see how God will move!

We learn in scripture that honor is truly one of the love languages of God, but it is being lost in our world. The Bible teaches us that we honor God when we honor others. This Mother’s Day weekend we learned how honor can unlock God’s blessings in our lives in a message title “The Flavor or Honor”.

In Part 4 of “The Christian Atheist”, we learned how we often protect the idols that become a normal part of our lifestyle. But the Holy Spirit invades our lives to set us free, not by giving us more of what we think we need, but rather freeing us from the belief that we need these idols at all. This week we discussed how Jesus wants to free us from loving things that will not love us back in a message titled “American Idols”.

In our series, “The Christian Atheist”, we learned we were created to need attention from God and that the Bible is very clear about what kind of life God gives and does not give attention to. This week we talked all about attention-seeking behavior in a message titled “Does Anyone See Me?”.
