我們習慣談下一份工作、下一個城市、下一個想成為的自己。但在世界的另一端，對一些女孩來說，「選擇」可能是能不能繼續上學、能不能安全長大，甚至能不能決定自己幾歲結婚。

這一集，我們邀請台灣世界展望會 Carissa Wang，從她親自走過的孟加拉、烏干達、尚比亞與衣索比亞，帶我們看見女孩的生活如何被一些看似很小、卻非常具體的條件改變。

一口離家更近的水井，可能讓女孩不用每天花幾個小時取水；一間女生可以安心使用的廁所，可能決定她月經來時還能不能去學校。也有曾經差點被迫出嫁的女孩，在得到支持之後，成為保護其他孩子的社區領袖。

真正改變一個女孩人生的，不一定是一個宏大的答案，而是先看見：究竟是什麼，讓她沒有選擇。台灣世界展望會今年發起「資助1000女孩」計畫。對已經擁有專業、人脈與資源的我們來說，這也帶來另一個問題——除了關心，我們還可以把手上的選擇，轉化成什麼？

For Maha Kikugawa, belonging begins in nature. For Janet Cheung, every space begins with a feeling. Born in Sydney, raised in Hong Kong, and now based in Singapore, she brings a global rhythm to design. As Studio Principal at Peter Silling and Associates, Janet has spent over fifteen years shaping hospitality experiences that move people, from grand hotels and casinos to quiet cocktail bars that hum with intimacy.

What does it mean to power a country — or a conversation?

While headlines often focus on climate or innovation, she reminds us that millions still live without stable electricity, and that true progress means meeting countries where they are — whether that’s electrification or decarbonization.

She also shares behind-the-scenes insights from COP28, where she championed stronger collaboration between governments and the private sector. And as one of the few women in leadership in a traditionally male-dominated industry (women still represent only about 20% of the energy workforce), Sandra speaks candidly about the gender gap in energy — and why she’s pushing for more diverse voices to lead the sector forward.
