Ashley dives into the disappearance of Brian Shaffer. Brian Shaffer was a medical student at Ohio State University. On the night of March 31, 2006, Shaffer went out with friends to celebrate the beginning of spring break; later he was separated from them and they assumed he had gone home. However, a security camera near the entrance to a bar recorded him briefly talking to two women just before 2 a.m., April 1, and then apparently re-entering the bar. Shaffer has not been seen or heard from since. The case remains unsolved.

Kat discusses the tragic murder of Sylvia Likens.  The murder of Sylvia Likens was a child murder that occurred in Indianapolis, Indiana in October 1965. Likens, a 16-year-old girl, was held captive and subjected to increasing levels of child abuse, neglect, humiliation, and torture committed over a period of almost three months by her caregiver, Gertrude Baniszewski, many of Baniszewski's children, and several other neighborhood children before ultimately succumbing to her injuries.

Ashley tells us all about Lavinia Fisher, America's first female serial killer.  She was married to John Fisher, and both were convicted of highway robbery—a capital offense at the time—not murder.  She was, however, an active member of a large gang of highwaymen who operated out of two houses in the backcountry near Charleston, the Five Mile House and the Six Mile House. It is not clear whether the Six Mile House was a hotel,but it did serve as a hideout for a number of outlaws. 

Kat discusses the background on Albert DeSalvo, the man known as The Boston Strangler. The Boston Strangler is the name given to the murderer or murderers of 13 women in the Boston, Massachusetts, area during the early 1960s. The crimes were attributed to Albert DeSalvo based on his confession, details revealed in court during a separate case, and DNA evidence linking him to the last victim.

Ashley discusses the background on the Todville Murder Mansion-- the man who built, the boys who frequented, and the bloody murder that occurred.  

Kat discusses Joshua Powell, husband and suspect in the disappearance of Susan Powell.  Susan's disappearance and presumed murder, as well as the subsequent investigation and events, garnered significant media attention. Her husband, Joshua "Josh" Powell, was named a person of interest in the investigation into her disappearance; however, Joshua was never charged; on February 5, 2012, he killed himself and the couple's two young sons, Charles Joshua Powell and Braden Timothy Powell in a murder-suicide after custody of the boys had been awarded to Susan's parents, Charles and Judy Cox.
