As we approach Fathers Day I wanted to dedicate a podcast to my late father in law, from his favourite daughter in law. I was the only one, but that gives you and idea of his humour and there was always a lot of laughter when the two of us were in a room together.
Grief can affect us at any moment even if its been a while, we can push it aside and not really come to terms with it, called denial. This week I share my story and chat through what the five stages of grief are. I didn't experience all of them, just some of them, but the way a person copes with the death of a loved one is different depending on who it is and on who you are. The important thing is to get to acceptance so that you can remember them in a positive way, I remember the good times and accept that they are not here anymore but that you can always find them in your heart.

On this weeks podcast I chat about my recent trip to Edinburgh University where I learnt a lot more about Endometrial Cancer, the causes, prevention, symptoms and treatment. I was a little bit shocked to find out that I am in the high risk category, so I am keen to make some lifestyle changes as a result of what I have learnt.
Have a listen to find out more.

Having reflected on my life on my retreat I had the realisation that I have survived divorce I have transitioned from being really unhappy to a situation where I have less but get more value from it and on a happiness scale of 1-10, I am at an 8 / 9, 10 being the happiest that you can be.
I no longer have a big house, but a tiny one that take less time to clean and I am much happier in that space. I have got all my self confidence back, I have worked on elements of myself that I wanted to improve on and I talk about what helped me to do that. I have met someone who is a really great match for me, which I never expected.
I guess sometimes the dream of what we want doesn't match the reality, so while you are recovering from divorce take time to work out what you actuality want from life, what sort of person you want as a potential partner and then the reality is the dream.
So this podcast is probably more about how I survived divorce, but we all learn from each others experiences.

One this weeks podcast I talk about the Pilates retreat that I have just been on and about the benefits that I felt from going on the retreat. I chat about how it has helped me to evaluate my life and what changes that I should and probably need to make.
This will give you an idea of what you might get out of going on any kind of retreat and it doesn't have to be sporting, it could be a more academic retreat, just getting time out of your current life doing other things in a different environment can help you reflect on your life.

After having a few conversations with male friends who have had a moan to me about women being too clingy and needy, I wanted to chat about why its a good idea to have your own space in a relationship.
Why you should give a guy space.

In this weeks Podcast I have discussion about why young men are turning to the likes of Andrew Tate as role models and what we can do to prevent this from happening.
I chat about all the images of semi naked young women that are streaming the internet and how as Women we need to be more dignified as it sends out the wrong message.
I talk about why we should be more open about sex with the younger generation instead of hiding it behind closed doors.
I also chat about female and male definitions following the legal case that has just been won.
Its a bit controversial this week, but I think that we need to start discussing this more and asking more questions.

Having divulged to you all last week, some trauma that I experienced in a relationship when I was only twenty years old, I guide you through how I overcame this trauma which led to me having a mostly happy marriage for twenty years. I also chat about how I have got through something that I suspect has happened to me and learned to live with it, without being able to talk about it and move on from it to find someone who I feel completely happy with.

In this weeks podcast I am chatting about relationship finances, with a couple of horror stories and giving you my experience of managing my finances while married, as a qualified bookkeeper and managing a small country estate out of a significant overdraft.
Couples tend to argue about money frequently so its important to have those conversations before you move in together, find out the financial situation of your partner, be honest yourself if you have any credit card debt and if your partner is better at managing money, then let them help you to pay it off.

This question has already come up in conversation and my reply was 2030. I have only just moved into my own place, I am making it look like a home, I enjoy spending time here, I wouldn't want to move into someone else's space at the present moment. So I thought I would cover this as a podcast topic.

I have lived a full life, been married, divorced, travelled with others and alone, been to concerts and festivals alone. I have run a marathon, owned and run my own small holding and separate dog walking business, I ride horses and currently own a rare breed Fell pony called Merlin. I have taken part in dressage, show jumping, cross country and long distance rides. I have been on a South African Wildlife Safari, riding horses amongst zebras and giraffe. I have worked for a Royal College, a Castle on a small country estate, in book production and publishing, for Italian and Chinese companies.
I started my podcast to help me survive divorce, it has taken me on an incredible journey and I have pushed myself out of my comfort zone, doing activities the stories of which are available for you to listen to. I have met some incredible individuals along the way, real people who have overcome lots of different life challenges.
I have found myself having coffee with Paula Radcliff in Manchester, I have met Chris Evans, been interviewed by him on Virgin Radio, I have met the inspirational Richard Branson, sat next to the lovely Jake Quickendon at a charity event and asked him if he was on Instagram. I have worked on my self development, physical fitness and mental health, having suffered from social anxiety and had a massive lack of self confidence and I talk about this in my podcasts. By pushing myself to do all the things I talk about in my podcast, I have built up resilience. I am now mentally strong enough to date and my podcasts are currently on this topic. There are interviews with some truly inspiring real people to have a listen to, real life role models, who have overcome real life situations which you can listen to for advice and encouragement to help you through life.
Oh and I am James Blunts girl from the subway and it's not just the one song! I didn't want to be famous or judged for not being as beautiful as people imagined me to be, as I look in the mirror and don't see it, true beaty is within you. I also don't want to be known as that woman that the song is as about. I am my own person and its important that I have my own identity.
