Back on April 5, 2010, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) changed its rules to allow pilots to fly planes under the influence of antidepressants (drugs documented to cause mania, psychosis, worsening depression, hallucinations, suicidal and even homicidal ideation). Would you feel safe to fly at 35,000 feet when the pilot may have one or more of these side effects? The FAA just ignored the scientific data showing the dangers of these drugs and lifted its 70-year-old ban allowing pilots to take antidepressants. This week's guest is Dr. Anthony Castiglia, a senior FAA aviation medical examiner, who disagrees with the FAA's decision.
