Isaiah Thomas broke the silence in the wake of his reported trade to the Cleveland Cavaliers and their issues with his physical. Thomas stated to ESPN that his hip will be fine, but was mostly mum on the Celtics-Cavaliers overall trade. Boston was slated with a 56.5 over/under win total by Las Vegas.
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN has the Cavaliers requesting more compensation following Isaiah Thomas's physical, while Cleveland.com's Joe Vardon claims no request has been made in the Kyrie Irving trade. The Celtics also had Thomas Robinson in for a workout and signed undrafted rookie LJ Peak.
In a SportsCenter segment on Sunday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Cavs are going to “inquire about” Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, the Celtics’ No. 3 overall picks from 2016 and 2017, and more importantly, keys to Boston's future.
The Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers may find themselves in a standoff following Isaiah Thomas' physical. The Cavs are expected to seek additional assets from the Celtics in a renegotiation. The Celtics are believed to have built in the injury into the trade and are likely hesitant to give up any more assets. Cleveland could fail the physical and void the deal.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Isaiah Thomas's physical in Cleveland brought up some questions on whether the Celtics were up front enough about the extent of his hip injury and has put the blockbuster Kyrie Irving trade potentially in jeopardy.
