Anthony Davis and the Boston Celtics would be a match made in heaven, yet Monday night at the Smoothie Center in New Orleans, they remained counterparts, as Davis and the struggling Pelicans earned their second victory of the season with a down-to-the-final-buzzer score of 106-105.

The aforementioned Davis struggled with his shot – going 7-of-22 from the floor, including 7 turnovers. He did, however, manage to put up 25 points and 16 rebounds, to go along with 4 steals and 2 blocks. The 25 points fell 6 points shy of his 31 point per game average, which is third in the NBA thus far.

The Celtics – on the back end of a quick two game road trip after taking care of business in Indiana Saturday night – had their hands full with the previously 1-9 Pelicans.

Isaiah Thomas once again led the way for the Celtics, who find themselves 5-5 through ten games. Thomas finished with 37 points – 1 point shy of his regular season career-high.

The Celtics let the Pelicans control the game throughout much of its entirety – including a lead as large as 14 points at one point in the second quarter.

The Boston Celtics fell to the New Orleans Pelicans 106-105 Monday, playing again without Al Horford and Jae Crowder. Crowder is ruled out of Wednesday's game against the Dallas Mavericks, while Horford is questionable with a concussion. The Mavs are dealing with issues of their own with Dirk Nowitzki questionable.
