Thanks for joining the Center Mid Philosopher for part two of "101 Fiercest Darbies", a deep psychological and sociological study of various football rivalries that offers insights into the world. The episode explores the intense rivalry between Millwall and West Ham United, which is one of the longest-standing and most bitter in English football. Both teams originated in the East End of London and were located less than three miles apart. The rivalry dates back to 1899 when they first played each other in the FA Cup, known as the Dockers Derby. The teams' origins are rooted in industry, with Millwall being founded by the JT Morton Factory and West Ham by the Tim's Ironworks football club. During World War I and II, the rivalry intensified as they were working on opposing docks, vying for the same business. The rivalry is deeply embedded in British football culture and has been depicted in numerous books and movies. The episode also touches on the rise of British hooliganism and the formation of firms in the 1970s. The Center Mid Philosopher believes that understanding football rivalries can offer insights into multi-generational prejudices, class, wealth, race, and religion.

Matt, Zack, and Caleb discuss Jurgen Klopp's sudden departure from Liverpool FC and possible coaching candidates to replace him. While exhaustion is believed to be the primary reason for Klopp's exit, his unique pressing and counterattacking football style might not be a good fit for international football. The team's financial stability and opportunity for coaches to make it their own make Liverpool a compelling option. The episode also touches on the struggles of Barcelona's soccer team, with coaching instability and financial issues. Manchester City's ongoing alledged FFP breaches is definitely of concern. The gang expresses excitement about the current state of soccer teams and emerging talent in the AFCON tournament and the English Premier League. They wrap up by sharing their current favorite 11's!
We hope you enjoy the show!
Matt explores the intense and historic soccer rivalries all around the world. Amsterdam's Ajax and Rotterdam's Feyenoord in the Netherlands, FC Copenhagen in Denmark, Dortmund and Schalke in Germany, Gremio and International in Brazil, East Bengal and Mohan Bagan in India and several more! These derbies, each rooted in unique cultural, historical, and political contexts, have led to mass hysteria and violent incidents including fan avalanches, assassinations, bomb attacks, and clashes between working-class and wealthy fans. Some prominent figures, like Johan Cruyff and Ronaldinho, have shifted allegiances between competing teams. Despite the horrifying histories of fan violence, these rivalries highlight the deep passion and dedication of fans to their respective teams. The world of football is so rooted in history, that sometimes political lines get blurred. One thing is for sure, this episode will depict just how intense rivalries in football can get.

In this episode of Center Mid Philosopher, the Mashy Pea Mob is back at it again to discuss the recent Manchester derby game in detail, criticizing Manchester United's poor performance, and specifically Bruno Fernandez's part in the goal. The hosts argue that City's victory was not the result of their own good play but rather the poor defending of United. The video then turns to touch on United's poor form, including their worst ranking in the English Premier League, their tendency to give up goals quickly after scoring, and the struggles of Anthony Mason Mount and Rashford. The discussion turns to the question of why Manchester United's performance is so poor, who is responsible and what might be done about it.
