There are 150 Psalms in the Bible but of all the Psalms, there is none more quoted than Psalm 23. This Psalms gives us a vivid picture of who God is and what God does whether we are on top of the mountain, or in the lowest point of a valley. Everything you need has already been prepared for you and all you need to do is say yes to the invitation and sit at the table.

In Exodus 14 we see the dramatic moment where God parts the Red Sea so the Israelites can escape from the Egyptians chasing them. It’s an only God kind of moment and it gives us a picture of how God can help us get through what we’re going through. There’s an odd story in the book of Genesis about a woman who turns into a pillar of salt. What we often fail to see is the reality that when we look back from the things, people and situations God has already delivered us from we can get stuck in place unable to move forward into the good things He still has for us. In Hebrews 12:15 Paul tells us to watch out for a “poisonous root of bitterness”. We are all susceptible to harboring resentment, carrying an offense and becoming bitter. If we don’t deal with that bitterness it will take a toll on our life and faith. You can’t carry bitterness and live blessed at the same time but how do you beat bitterness? In this sermon, we get a Biblical perspective on how to move forward and get better instead of letting bitterness ruin our life.
