In Mark 4:7 Jesus talks about the seed that falls on thorns. Those thorns are meant to symbolize the distractions in our life that get in the way of the growth God wants us to experience in our life and faith. The idea is that when you remove the thorns, you make room for growth but how do you actually do that? This sermon is about the process of clearing out the clutter so we can cultivate the soil of our faith.

In Mark 4:5-6 Jesus talks about seed that falls on rocky soil. He challenges those who follow Him to make sure they're planted in soil where the roots can grow deep and wide. Many churches and church people refer to this idea as “going deeper” but what does that mean really? In this sermon Pastor Chris reminds us that deep roots, produce a deep faith that leads to life of growth and that growth, is not just about the person that’s growing but also the people they impact with their growth.

In Mark 4:1-4 Jesus begins one of His most famous parables ever by talking about seed that fell on a footpath and couldn’t grow. In Mark 4:15 Jesus tells the Disciples that the footpath represents people who hear the good news only to let the enemy snatch up the seed before it can take root. For many of us, the reason the seed can’t take root is because of a hardened heart. Maybe we’ve been hurt, have unanswered questions or unresolved pain. If we don’t allow God to step in and soften our hearts, His truth can never grow in our life. In this sermon, Pastor Matt talks with us about breaking up the soil of a hard heart so the Holy Spirit has room to work in our life.

Repentance is part of restoring our devotion to God. The challenge is that true repentance requires us to admit we were wrong and that we wronged others and God. For many of us, pride gets in the way of this important next step but, if we fail to repent, God can’t rebuild and restore our life the way He wants to. In Ezra 6 we finally see the story take a turn. After a season of progress, that was followed by a season of opposition, good things are starting to happen. God’s Faithful Provision is always available if we let Him keep writing our story. What God sows and plants in one season, will grow and flourish in the next season IF you stay committed to the process.
