Summary: Psalm 150 not only concludes the book of Psalms but it is also the culmination of the progression that began in Psalm 1 and continues through the whole Psalter. The call is to sheer delight in praise of God.
Summary: One of the key elements of the book of Psalms are the words of cursing found in them. A difficulty arises however from the seeming incongruity of the words of cursing in light of Jesus' teaching that we should love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. So how do we reconcile this and is it possible to read the Psalms of cursing as our own - this message deals primarily with these questions.
Summary: One of the signatures of the Psalms are the rawness and authenticity found within them, with few more so than Psalm 55. David, the author of Psalm 55, highlights his plight: wickedness, betrayal and angst surround him. What we see in this Psalm is David's response to those things when everything inside of him wants to simply run away.
The fact of the matter, I think most of us would agree, is we all sin. We may not call it that; we may use all sorts of words instead of sin, but without a doubt, we all mess up. The question is, what do you do in light of it? This message deals with that question in the context of David's sin with Bathsheba.
Summary: Psalms 1 and 2 provide both an introduction and an invitation to the Psalms. By presenting us with a vision of ultimate reality, they help guide us into some of the larger themes of the whole book.
Summary: Let's be honest, it's only human nature to want a life that is good, exciting and fruitful but what do we do when things go bad? Do we pack up and seek something else or is it perhaps the lonely and hard times that pave the way for experiences that aren't achievable without them? This message focuses on what we can expect when followers of Jesus give themselves to faith and ministry.
Summary: Happy Father's Day! On a day when dads are perhaps receiving another tie or perhaps simply uninterrupted time in front of the TV, this message deals with what kids so desperately need from their fathers.
Summary: Jesus intentionally goes cross-cultural & counter cultural. I would love to see if God would call people through this story to love the least lovely and least reached people in our city and world. I would love to encourage them to live in the moment and seize every moment to love someone next week.
Summary: The reality of Christian joy is grossly misunderstood by so many in our present day. What does Jesus say about the reality of joy in a world that is very broken. How do we live life with authentic Christian joy?
