Macy brings almost 20 years of coaching experience to SMC’s athletic program. Most recently, she was the women’s head coach at East Carolina University where she was recognized as their All-Time Winningest Coach. Macy has also held head coach positions at Francis Marion University and Pfeiffer University.

Macy’s achievements are extensive as both a player and coach. She was inducted into the Greensboro College Hall of Fame and Starmount High School Hall of Fame. Her honors include 2013 Conference USA Coach of the Year, 2007/2008 and 2008/2009 Peach Belt Conference Coach of the Year and 2006/2007 Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. At East Carolina University, Macy set the university record for three consecutive 20-plus win seasons, adding to her 200-plus career wins.

In addition to her collegiate career, Macy founded Influence and Impacters, Inc., a nonprofit that helps people of all ages reach their goals through service and leadership events. Macy’s organization also hosts basketball camps and clinics. A camp for middle and high school students is scheduled at SMC in August.

Macy earned her Master of Science in Human Performance and Recreation from the University of Southern Mississippi and her Bachelor of Science in Sport and Exercise Studies from Greensboro College. She also is certified in Emotional Intelligence (EQ).

Coach Kiernan will begin his 13th season at Mater Dei High School in 2019-20 and he has made an indelible mark on a program that is incredibly rich in tradition. Coach Kiernan's tenure at Mater Dei has been nothing short of remarkable. Coach Kiernan has won two National Championships, three State Championships, four CIF Championships and six Southern California Regional Championships. The 2018-19 season ended with a 28-5 overall record, 12th consecutive Trinity League Championship (4-0). In 2011, Coach Kiernan was selected as the Orange County Register and Los Angeles Times Coach of the Year as well as the CIF Division 1AA Coach of the Year and the National High School Coaches Association National Coach of the Year.

In 12 years at Mater Dei, Coach Kiernan's teams are 344-42, and he owns a 834-169 career record. In 2011 Mater Dei became the first girls basketball team in five years to finish No. 1 in the USA Today Super 25 in consecutive seasons, and the newspaper also named Coach Kiernan its National Coach of the Year in 2010. Further, in 2006 Coach Kiernan was named the WBCA High School Coach of the Year.

Randy Brown is a national author, keynote speaker, mentor and coach.  Randy is considered a national expert on the topics of adversity, networking, and team building. His experience spans over 30 years of sharing life-changing messages to hundreds of audiences. His popular presentations on the truth of networking, communication and team building lean on his college basketball coaching career and life experiences. 

For nearly 20 years Randy Brown has worked with the country's finest coaches, including Basketball Hall of Famer, Lute Olson. His NCAA Division I experience includes five regular season championships, two post-season tournament championships, five NCAA Tournaments, back-to-back Big 12 titles, and the 2000 Elite Eight. Twelve NBA players have benefitted from his coaching expertise, including Steve Kerr, current Golden State Warriors head coach, and Sean Elliott, National Player of the Year, 1988. His rise in the coaching world was matched by his dramatic plunge to the depths of depression, children deaths, prison, and a career lost forever. His book, Rebound Forward, highlights his rise in the college coaching world as well as failure, adversity, and tragedy. He is a role model for resilience in the face of life’s most devastating circumstances.

Coach Darren Douglas comes was hired this spring as the new Head Boys Basketball coach at Grovetown High school in Augusta, Georgia.  He has led Aquinas (Augusta) for the last three seasons. The Irish were very young this season and finished 10-16. However, in the two previous years, Douglas’s squads were among the best in the state. In 2016-17, the Irish finished 26-2 and won a region championship. They followed that up in 2017-18 with a magical season that saw them capture the Class A Private State Championship, finishing with a 27-5 mark. Douglas takes over a team that was 3-21 a year ago but have loads of young talent in the pipeline.

 Coach Waters is the current assistant boys basketball coach at South Forsyth High School in Cumming, Georgia. Last year he was a D2 Assistant coach last year at Flagler College (NCAA D2). Dr. Tony Miller began as the Bruins men’s basketball Director of Basketball Operations in June of 2012. As a member of the coaching staff, his primary duties include player development, scheduling, game film analysis, and summer camps.

During the summer, Miller is involved in the sport running Christian school basketball camps and coaching at Duke University basketball camp. He also participates at National Hoops Ministries’ basketball camp, serving as a camp coach.

In 2014, Miller earned a doctorate in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy (USSA). He also has two degrees from Bob Jones University – a bachelor's degree in Health, Fitness, & Recreation and a master's degree in Secondary Education. Since 2007, he has been a member of the BJU Health, Exercise & Sport Science faculty, teaching courses in coaching, sports management, and sports marketing.

Miller believes that athletics are a platform for mentoring student-athletes to bring glory to Christ. He is very passionate about one-on-one growth of his players, not only on the court, but in their personal walk with Christ.
